Donald Trump Is a Weakling. That’s the Problem. | The New Republic The pithiest summary of Donald Trump’s last presidency was by the comedian John Mulaney. He compared it to a horse being set loose in a hospital. “No one knows what the horse is gonna do next,” Mulaney said, “least of all the horse. He’s never been in a hospital before!” The prevailing theory about Trump’s second term is that the horse now knows its way around the hospital. I have my doubts. Whatever practical knowledge Trump picked up in the first term is outweighed by the accelerating cognitive decline he displayed over the past year. He was a weak president before, and he may be an even weaker one this time. In saying this, I don’t dispute that Trump’s instincts are dangerously authoritarian. Nor would I argue that a bumbling maximum leader is harmless—quite the opposite, in fact. Trump’s last presidency did serious damage. He redistributed income upward to the rich; he separated children from their parents at the border; he secured an anti-Roe majority on the Supreme Court; and he reduced the proportion of the population covered by health insurance just as a deadly pandemic arrived to kill 40 percent more people than in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
So the weak president is going to become a Hitler like dictator and so all those horrible things the dems have said would happen? Ok.
You might want to go back and hit the history books. Hitler had mental health issues galore and was an utter disaster from a military point of view. Despite those issues, he still managed to oversee some of the most horrific events and policies in the history of the world. The word "weak" was not a get out of jail free card despite you pouncing on it as though it was an empty lifeboat at the sinking of the Titanic. A solid C- for effort, though.
Libbies are SALTY right now. Yall spent weeks claiming Trump would be an authoritarian dictator.. normally not associated with with a weak man.. and spent weeks claiming he would be Hitler Essie ( go a head claim that now yall think Hitler was a weak leader … ya right..) Yall spent weeks claiming Trump Would bring the Handmaidens tale to life in the US, over throw everything we know as democratic in the US, throw those who oppose him into prison ( I mean even the view espoused the idea that comedians like them would be arrested)… and now Now yall want to call Trump a weakling? I mean if the left truly believed even half the garbage they spewed all of them would be fleeing the country as soon as Trump is sworn in . If you believed even half of it then you’d be planning a political coup or an assignation to stop the Authoritarian takeover of our country. Instead.. We have the usual suspect talking heads now claiming everything will be ok, the left will be fine, the left will rise again.. It’s like a child throwing a Temper tantrum screaming at everything and everyone with no acceptance of the issue being with themself.
Trump is weak. That's why it's so easy to manipulate him like Putin and Kim Jong Un did. World leaders treat Trump like the toddler he is. They tell him what he wants to hear to avoid the tantrums. And then they just go on doing what they were going to do anyway.
It must drive the Trump deranged all the more mad to know that it’s 53 days before the four more years of Trump begins.
What did Trump give to Putin and Kim Jong-un last time he was POTUS? I'll be waiting for that list of giveaways.
If Trump is a weakling why is half of Washington terrified and world leaders scurrying to ‘Trump-proof’ their machinations ?
Love letters, covid tests, weakening NATO by threatening to pull out, and lots of chaos and instability here in the US. Trump even tried to overthrow our democracy, which is Putin's dream. Putin is very glad to have Trump back in office.
Actually, the US was fairly stable until the toxic brew of Trump derangement, pan-panic and leftist violence. Then came Biden’s border crisis and now taking us to the brink of WWIII and possible nuclear extinction.
Trump won the election. I hope democrats are not going to spend the next couple of years - until.democrats can legitimately say "I told you so" - complaing about him. The Attilas' entrenchment is covered with a steel dome, as a few of the posts here have demonstrated, so why don't we stop lobbing grenades at one another ..... like I just did.
I would compare Trump more to a horse with diarrhea in a hospital. "No one knows what the horse is going to do next--least of all the horse. He's never been in a hospital before. And he has diarrhea!" Trump is going to leave some serious messes for the next president to clean up.
