By: Nick Marcinko -- November 27, 2024 It’s not just another week in college football; it’s rivalry week. Florida and Florida State are set to match up for the 68th time in the 30th all-time meeting between the two teams in Tallahassee. The all-time series dates back to 1958 with the Gators owning a 37-28-2 lead and wins in three of the last five. This is the third meeting between UF HC Billy Napier and FSU HC Mike Norvell as head coaches. Norvell holds a 2-0 series lead over Napier. By the numbers: UF at FSU preview | GatorCountry.com
Happy Thanksgiving to all of us Swampgasers! Stats are fun to read and to debate on. As I have stated in this Forum more than once, the only stat that matters is the score at the end of the game. Here are three more stats: The Gators are 6 and 5 win/loss record and the Holes W/L record is 2 and 9. The College Football Strength of Schedule have the gator ranked at 7th and the Holes at 11th. The ESPN Power Rankings have the Gators ranked 25th and the Holes at 84th. The stats that properly defines these two teams are who they beat and who they lost to: The Gators lost to: Number #6 Miami, #3 Texas, #7 UGA, #20 Texas A&M, and #8 Tennessee. They did not lose to any unranked teams. The Gators beat recently ranked #14 Ole Miss. The Holes lost to: #9 SMU, #12 Clemson, #6 Miami, #5 Notre Dame, and to 5 unranked teams. The Holes have not beaten any ranked teams. If this game was being played at the Swamp F$U would not stand a snowball's chance in hell. As we all know this game is being played at a circus venue known as Joke Shamble Stadium. The Gators need to bring on the A game that we have seen in the last three games. They need to score early and hopefully have the Holes looking at their Portal Status by Half Time.
