I am counting 11 men’s basketball transfers at a minimum within the SEC. There is no way these guys are sitting out a year.

That is very plausible. I was just answering your question that the rule does exist, but only for the spring portal window. Whether the conference enforces it or not is another thing.

There was a court case that struck down the NCAA rule that said you couldn’t transfer twice without sitting out a year. I am guessing, but I don’t know, that the case also struck down the SEC rule.

Possibly. I haven't read up on the case or seen when the verdict was given, but as of April 12th, the SEC still has the rule in place. Who knows at this point.

I do not think the sec rule has been challenged yet. It’s still mentioned a lot on the football boards, so most still assume the rule is in play. Of course, as soon as someone challenges it, the sec rule will likely go the way of the ncaa rule.

The early portal period is generally when players are granted eligibility and the later portal period is when SEC transfers have been denied with exception of coaching changes, probation and family medical hardship.

Isn’t this the early portal for basketball? I know the second football window closed but have think the timing is different given when the seasons end

Man, I wish he could just come back with a mind to just work hard and contribute. He could be a great piece to this team when he locked in.

Yeah, he had his up and downs but I would welcome him back. I just think he's looking for a place that will ink him in as the starter right off the bat, and that's not going to happen here. He'd have to win the job over some very good players.

Much more than numbers, he needed to improve his attitude, approach and receptiveness to being coached.

Speaking of much discussed transfers… anyone watch Glover? @tampajack1? How has he looked? Recovered?

Injured most of the time so far. The TV announcers on the last game I watched said that the coaching staff says he is one of the best players on the team. That doesn’t matter. In the Ohio State lost to Texas A&M, he hit a couple threes in the first half, got hit, was limping around and hasn’t played in the last 2 1/2 games. I don’t believe that it’s his knee. This time around it might be an ankle problem, but I am not sure.

Back to Riley - Kids explosive, and has game, but I would not trade him for any of Martin, Clayton or Richard.

Because of his attitude? I’d certainly think he has the potential to improve on the court.
