Didn't work out from Mack. I've followed him since his days at Tulane.
Enjoy a well deserved retirement Mack. He accomplished great things.

If, big IF, he is re-energized to coach and ready to coach again, he’d be a good hire for almost anyone. Too bad he burned out with us.

Agreed. Just think his half assed approach could probably work at a basketball school

Agreed, mullen can get 6-7 wins most years and an occasional 10-11 wins every 3rd year at UNC with little recruiting. Was never a good fit for us.

Like Congresspeople should, there should be term limits for crappy coaches (written in their contracts) in such a way their firing package is reduced for failing to produce.
I’m being silly but these coaching contracts are stupid.

There is soooooo much money in these fanbases, it's ridiculous. There's always someone out there willing to one-up you, and as long as that's the case, it's likely to continue to get worse. I figured with all the flameouts and transfers and millions of dollars wasted on NIL, that would be dialed back a bit by now, but it's still just getting worse. As long as one guy/school/fanbase is willing to do it, everyone will.

That's kinda what mack did there though right? Either they think they should be better than that, or they just didn't like the direction of the program. I think I heard on a pod today that the last time UNC won the ACC was like 1980. I agree Mullen, if motivated, would probably improve them to a 8 -10 win team every year, they are in the ACC after all haha

News this morning said warren buffet now had 365 bil liquidated into cash. Thank god he isnt a nole fan. If those types interfere, nothing can be done. No telling how rich some of these boosters are.

except Mullen did that in the SEC. In the ACC I expect him to win most games except against the cream of the conference and split against them every 2-3 years.

Could possibly be easier to work around that these days. Unlimited staff, able to pay players…. Hire a couple people to really hit that part hard. I would think there’s money in that fanbase. They certainly have plenty to go around for basketball, or at least they did before it was legal.
