We have kind of a tough schedule and that has a bit to do with those rankings. Indiana and colorado are probably ranked much better than is but id be willing to wager we could stomp both their asses. Our redzone d has been better than the yardage weve given up but they dont give points for yardage. You gotta punch that thing in to get points. I wonder what our redzone d is ranked lately.

 

I didn’t predict it but just look 5-10 posts playing out defending the (not current defense as we were rising) but the that we were trending. Trending by game is real momentum, not the play by play crap that announcers like to spout. We were so obviously trending forward and weekly trends (barring injury), continues. Guys and breaking out and making better FUNDAMENTAL TACKLES. One on one, guys trying harder and making open field tackles. This team, more than any team that frankly I can remember have been coached to will themselves to be better and now with the KY, LSU, Ole Miss wins in very large part to LBs and all the 4th and 1s and safety play has gone up too, I would say our defense is becoming elite.

it’s safe to say that it’s fair to have been skeptical but I think more level headed for the first time to actually be hopeful that the trend would continue than fall apart.

TBH, i feel more nervous by FSU than I did Ole Miss. The boys need to know that they need to throw out every game to win and them have played this season and remember it’s to me anyway (as a 90s Gator), our biggest nastiest rival and for both of us its our championship.

And next year I’m excited for the possibilities. We get good recruits. Portal fixed and even with another STUPID schedule it will help push us forward into the play offs. Next year, book it.

I believe we could beat pretty much all of the teams above 15, maybe better.

 

The fact that you were confident we would beat Ole Miss who to non-Gator fans was a prohibitive favorite. But you are worried about Florida State (where we are big favorites ) seems to me that you think more with your heart when it comes to the gators. Nothing wrong with that that’s what being a fan is all about. On the other hand, I try to make my guess based on what I see week to week. We just look at games a little differently, to each his own. Looking back at this thread, September 21-24 were dark, dark days here at Gator Country. Remind me not to go with many of you on a dangerous mission.

 

It’s probably my fault because my post, as they have been lately was sloppy but you way misread my post about not feeling we would win but that the upward trajectory was what was giving me hope week to week as I saw visual improvement.

also, I am concerned about FSU because if we take them lightly and sometimes the players sort of think like fans like “we got this”. To wit, 96 undefeated Gators going in to Tallahassee with their back up QB (even if they were nasty cheaters).

You sorta, like I said understandably, mixed up what I was saying.

 

So-called Gator fans predicting "zero" almost in a joyous manner. Weird, wild stuff!

 

I think it's less that they aren't "Gator fans" and more case that they were unconvinced (at best) and overtly hostile (at worst) to the notion that Billy Napier was our coach. Then add the same sentiment regarding the UF AD, and you end up looking to justify for calling for his / their immediate defenestration.

 

I never predicted zero wins but I can understand the doom and gloom. However, I don't know how you don't give a ton of credit to Billy Napier for this turnaround. Some of it is Lagway but we were playing better before he became the starter and Billy deserves a ton of credit for identifying and grooming Lagway before other schools did and eventually getting him. I was anti-Billy after the Miami game and now I think he deserves another year and expect us to be much better next year. I'm just another fickle gator fan I guess...
