    But we had so many fine, upstanding Gator Country posters who swore to us that President Trump was going to prison. That Jack Smith wouldn't be deterred. What happened??

    Entered thread to see Trump supporters cheer for a criminal getting away with crime. Mission accomplished.

    Also;

    “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Mr. Trump said during the conversation.

    Criminals gonna crime. Cheerleaders for crime gonna cheer for crime.

    Also;

    After the 2020 election, a group of 84 people in seven states signed false documents claiming to be electors for Donald Trump.

    Five of the seven states pursued charges related to the issue. Authorities in New Mexico and Pennsylvania did not pursue charges because the documents the false electors there used hedged language that attorneys said would likely spare them from criminal charges.

    14 of Trump’s fake electors are now real: where do the state investigations stand?

    Trump supporters only care about law and order when an immigrant or gangbanger commits a crime. When old white guys like Trump break the law, it’s not a big deal. Murica!

    The clock ran out on them. Smith also made some tactical errors that dragged out the process, as did Garland. If the obstruction/classified documents case ever makes it into a courtroom, Trump is likely to lose on it.

    The obstruction in the classified documents case would probably be an easy win in Florida. Smith should have probably just gone with that, rather than trying to throw in the classified documents charges as the requirements for that case caused to be a lot slower.

    I'm still curious about the nature/scope of the classified documents at issue. Also, it may not have been a problem if Smith had narrowed the case to obstruction only as you suggested. But I was also wondering how they might have handled a trial involving classified information assuming that charge had been tried. How does that usually work? Do the jurors have to get temporary security clearances or does the court just instruct them about their duty to keep it confidential and trust them with it?

    it is criminal that this case didn't make it to court prior to the election.

    if it does, djt never gets elected because he loses on this case.

    the american people were cheated out of justice/facts/evidence and fed misinformation.

    totally disgusted with our justice system and the voters right now. Putin has won as the faith in the american voter and the justice system is gone at this point. congrats MAG, the traitor in chief who puts our national security as risk, (per top PUB generals and advisors on HIS staff) has been reelected by keeping the facts from the people.

    or in front of a jury that votes on the evidence. evidence doesn't come in red or blue, mostly black and white, and the evidence is so overwhelming there is no doubt as to guilt to anyone who examines the evidence, just like J6. two major crimes against the security of this country and you cheer this buffoon on. personally disgusted by it and those who think it is something to celebrate

    There were certainly some never-Trump folks such as George Conway who were beating that drum and seemed very confident. I think Democratic posters here were far more skeptical that it would go down that way. Just for the record since I remembered addressing it, here's what I wrote in July of 2023.

    ***

    He will, and I'm sure he's going to try to run out the clock, which will probably work. Even if he were convicted, he would appeal. Even if he were convicted, lost on appeal, and lost the election, I think there's a near zero chance of him ever seeing the inside of a prison.

    Best case for him is getting back in the White House and exerting his retribution. Worst case for him is probably doing a reality tv show while living out his days under house arrest at Mar a Lago.

    More proclamations of impending doom despite Smith dismissing the case. Some things never change.

    I never thought our justice system would be able to effectively prosecute a person with as much power and influence as Trump. It would have been nice, but there is a different system in place for people with money, power, and influence, that most of the rest of us do not get to enjoy. This is not just a Trump thing. This is just another data point in a growing list of data points that demonstrates more and more this country is acting like a plutocracy more than a republic.

    And for those that don't know what a plutocracy is, here is ChatGPT explaining it like you have an 8th grade reading level:

    A plutocracy is a system where the people with the most money have the most power and influence over decisions. The term comes from Greek words meaning "rule of the wealthy." In a plutocracy, rich individuals or groups often shape laws, policies, and government decisions because of their wealth. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are elected leaders; sometimes, they influence politics through donations, lobbying, or controlling important industries.
    For example, imagine if only the wealthiest people in a community got to decide how schools were funded or which roads were repaired, while others had little say. This could lead to decisions that benefit the rich more than everyone else.
