Well, we know by now that the illegals are moving to where the jobs are. It's pretty safe to assume that if there were jobs in Canada, they'd have moved there already.

The concern on the right with crime by immigrants is bogus BS. Crime by native Americans is significantly higher than by legal and illegal immigrants. Crime is just the right's excuse to keep brown people from coming in - that and because immigration has been made a major issue by the jerk who will be our next president, which the mindless knee-jerk righties immediately take up as a cause de celebre. TWICE - TWO TIMES! - a bipartisan bill was reached only to be voted down by........you guessed it: the right wingers so concerned about immigration.

At this point, the most interesting part of this "debate" is that the same old lies from the right actually work. And the facts aren't even recognized.

It's truly fascinating to watch though. The USA has had various major immigrant or non-white labor blocks for its entire existence; slaves, Chinese, European immigrants, Latinos, etc. etc. And political hacks demonizing them for cheap votes has been the most stale, tired, yet effective tool of in our political history.

Yet here we are - having just elected a racist liar who told us (lied) on national TV that immigrants are "eating the dogs and cats."

Sad commentary on our electorate.

 

Can you give an example from the engineering world of diversity being a strength? Like something women, LGBTQP or whomever bring to the engineering table.
