The NCAA no longer has teeth. They’ll roll over and change the rules to match the states before they eat another giant L in court.

The rule-followers can then bring suit against the NCAA to force it to follow its own rules and immediately declare ineligible any UGA athletes on the payroll. It would be fun theater at the very least.

And an automatic 2 SEC wins for us, which likely would have happened regardless

Yes we've dropped to #22 in KenPom but it's not unheard of to have a letdown game like this. Most of our misses were from Condo and Urban. Condo missed bunnies he normally makes (and should have if he took it up strongly of pump-faked) and Urban missed by 1-2 inches each time. Some of those go in and we're talking about a much bigger margin of victory.

The true test will be in the next games leading up to and including UNC before we get into league play. I think it's great that Urban got some meaningful reps and Brown had a couple confidence-building shots, so when we get Sam and Denzel back we are that much deeper and stronger. This was just one of those games where the air was out of the building, the team played without fire, the shots didn't fall and FAMU isn't quite as horrible as their early record indicated. We'll bounce back.

You know you are probably pretty good when you have to “bounce back” from a 24 point victory. The next few games should be a lot of fun and very telling. Go Gators!

Not even sure I would describe this as a “letdown.” It’s basketball. Sometimes shots don’t go down. We were without two rotation players, which is not insignificant. We had a 24 pt lead at the half and had more than doubled their output. We took (and missed) way too many threes in the second half. And, as you said, probably the most competitive guy on the team, Condon, had the worst shooting night of his career in terms of missed shots. That has nothing to do with a letdown or with him “reading his own press.”

If just a handful of additional shots go down in the second half, we win by 35, and no one bats an eyelash. But that’s hoops.

Yes down 2 players but what I was referring to was the lack of intensity and energy, at least I didn't see it when I was watching. It was a very ho-hum game for the most part, like the air was out of the building. Yes we did have a 24-point halftime lead and victory but against a team we were favored by 35.5 points. It was far too close early on (came out sloppy and gave up too many boards) and we didn't extend the lead in the 2nd half.

Granted, it's tough to get up for a game like this and being down 2 isn't easy, but I'm of the bring the same intensity level every game, no matter who's playing or who the opponent is mindset. Am I nit-picking? Yes. But I'm sure CTG was as well. Have to come out against a team like this and put them away early. You never know if someone is going to get hurt playing extended minutes they shouldn't have to against an opponent like FAMU

About leadership...like last year, Richard is the one talking in the huddles. I admire him and he looks to have improved some but wish we had a leader with a bit more fire. Clayton and Martin are quiet types. Clayton as a vocal leader would probably help in games like this one and tougher ones in conference and tourney. Also Mark Wise and Patric Young were talking about how tough Donovan was after lackluster games and I hope we have the same thing going on now.

UF's win against JU looks better now, after they just beat VaTech on the road.

Great win yesterday. Take care of FSU, win a bowl game and recruit lights out. Bringing a lot of young talent back too.
Now we just need to win the next 5 bball games

There's symbiosis between the two teams. Particularly if the football team is winning. I'm not saying a recruit will come because we have a great FB team, but all things being equal, it helps.

BD used to say that he used the football team's success a lot in his recruiting. It was about the whole Gator Nation.

I think this team's potential and how deep they go depends on the center position.

We have the talent at guard and can match up with most anyone and the forwards give us good variety with several options for CTG. So the 5 is key. Chin doesn't have to be some double digit scorer and/or rebounder, especially when Condo can give us extra production at the 4 and 5. Chin is still young in experience at the game of basketball and has plenty of room to grow. Unknown if it happens this year but his he does have his limits on offense so far this season, known going into the season.

Handlogten and Samuel did a great job on the boards last year and if we can get anywhere close to that this year, we could go far. Martin will help in many ways on the boards, as well, but the bigs have to be more consistent getting rebounds. If Chin can be an average 7 and 7 guy for us, we will be happy for the production. Anything less, than averaging 5 and 5, will make me wonder if a change is needed. He just needs an extra bucket and a few rebounds a game to get there. Chin is also the team leader in personal fouls, tied with Clayton, but plays about half as much. These next 5 games will give us a better idea of what this team can do against better competition.

SEC play starting at Kentucky is only 7 games away. In the end, it doesn't matter who starts or how much they play, it's about the right rotations. CTG is still fine tuning and will begin to plug in the right pieces over the next 5 games. I'm not saying CTG needs to change the lineup, but we will know more about Chin's ability or liability in the next few weeks.
