Last week Vegas was one projection. Hopefully after today and a hopeful win next week UF will land something better.
After last week’s win over LSU, we were projected to play Boston College in the Gaspirilla Bowl according to Bleacher Report. We’re moving on up now after today.
Who cares what bowl we go to... I just love getting the extra two weeks of practice for our incredible freshmen and sophmores.
I don't care who we play or where we play. We just need to win. Our all-time bowl record stands at 24-24. We must win to get above .500 and not drop below .500. Today, we took the lead in the all-time series versus Ole Miss for the first time EVER - 13-12-1!
We were in the Las Vegas Bowl against Oregon State. For the sake of our fans and recruits, hope the game if not in Florida, is somewhere in the eastern US
Last week by ESPN: TransPerfect Music City Bowl Nissan Stadium (Nashville, Tennessee) 2:30 p.m., ESPN Bonagura: Minnesota vs. LSU Schlabach: Michigan vs. Florida Birmingham Bowl Protective Stadium (Birmingham, Alabama) Noon or 3:30 p.m., ESPN Bonagura: Louisiana vs. Florida Schlabach: Virginia Tech vs. Arkansas We'll get better bowl offers appearing tomorrow.
I gotta think if we get to 7 wins the gator bowl will want us. At 6 it’s probably Birmingham or some other low level bowl.
The last time that Ole Miss beat Florida to get their 12th win over the Gators was in 2008. That was the game after in which Tim Tebow gave his famous speech that inspired his football team to keep winning in reaching all of their pre-season goals except for the one where Florida is to go undefeated. At that time, Florida trailed Ole Miss in the series, 10-12-1. It would take three straight wins by Florida over Ole Miss to lead the series (13-12-1) like you said: 2015 - In one of Will Grier's last game as a Gator, Florida defeated #3 Miss 38-10. 2020 - The Covid season began with the Kyle & Kyle show (Trask & Pitts) leading Florida over Kiffen's Miss team, 51-35. 2024 - Napier's team continues to play inspired football and gets the win over #9 Ole Miss, 24-17. ========================= From 1926 to 1958, the two teams would play sporadically in the SEC but during this time period the Rebels took a commanding 7-1-1 lead over Florida before the Gators played catchup. Florida Gators Football History vs University of Mississippi By the mid 1990s, SOS's Florida teams did tie the Florida-Mississippi series, 9-9-1. However, the rebels would win the next 3/4 games against Florida to retake that series lead: 2002 & 2003 - Eli Manning's Ole Miss would out-duel UF's Rex Grossman & Chris Leak, respectively, for those two victories. In 2007 & 2008, Tebow's UF teams would split those games against Ole Miss. ============================
I can't imagine we'll have many players sitting out for the NFL draft. And I hope we don't have a lot of two-deep sitting out for the portal.
Today's projections might have some validity after yesterday's win and using the assumption of a win over fsu next Saturday.
One of the reporters on Shane Matthews' podcast this past week was stating the Gator Bowl was a likely spot.
