I mostly agree. In these unprecedented times, with poaching and the portal and offering to double NIL $$$, most teams will lose at least some. However, Coach Napier has consistently (mostly) recruited kids who WANT to play together here so a lack of P/T would be why any would transfer, if any do. I don't expect zero but also don't expect many.

I also noticed how the Gator D swarmed to the where the ball was.

The Ole Miss running backs and recievers looked like they had a swarm of hornets attacking them.

 

The progress made by the defense in real time situation is palpable. So impressive.

 

They've been hitting too. Not just trying to wrap-up (which is fine) but going after a tough, physical hit/tackle.

 

Yeah, the last couple years there was a lot of bitterness and biting comments from the guys who portalled out. This year is different, the guys who are playing had a chance to quit on him and the team earlier this year, and would have gotten a pass for it.
Instead, they started building something great. I can’t imagine too many guys getting off the train at this stop when they were ALL sold on coming to Florida to build something great.

 

You are correct. I should of stated that. In fact the past few games the Gator D has been laying out some hard hits. Today was no exception!

 

I'm worried about EW3

 

I can understand guys that are running out of eligibility and cannot get in the two deep. I doubt we have any Princely or ETN. They were both problems talking shit on the Internet before they left. We don't hear our guys talking negative this year.

 

I threw up my hands when Gates went down and thought we were doomed, but Thornton, Denson, and even Castell made big contributions and laid the wood.

We are on the razor's edge with injuries in the secondary. I like seeing n them getting full games though to show what they have and develop further.

Thornton may not have the greatest physical attributes, but he is athletic, a baller, and plays above his weight. That's why I liked seeing him recruited by CBN out of high school. Very similar to Gates that way.

 

Me too, buuuutttttttt, we have some ballers. And I believe Lags is getting Chim and Badger an NFL payday. EW3 would have to have a really good offer to decide to not stay home and to not play with the most electric qb in the country. Lags has ‘it’. The difference between Mertz and Lags with the same exact team and playbook , you’d really have to be pissed at the coaches or depth chart or have a HUUUGE payday to make the move. Also, have to give Billy props to the true freshman that have overtaken the more seasoned guys and produced. The man does have an eye for talent, and diamonds in the rough

I despaired after the Miami and ATM games, because our D played so poorly. Figured our season was wrecked.

Boy have they ever turned it around. Coaches and players deserve huge credit. I don't cringe anymore when our D takes the field because they are so fun to watch.
