That the selfish jerkoff had the affront to “opt out” of the Cotton Bowl to protect himself after what he did is what galls me the most of all.

You know, I would like to believe it, but I seem to recall that the “shoe game” was just one of several even before that where we were beating LSU on the field only to have a reversal of fortune, usually involving discretionary officiating, and lose at the last second.

There was the 2010 game where Les Miles faked a FG but the pass hit the ground before being advanced to a first down. Now under the rules that was either an incomplete pass or a fumble, which cannot be advanced, but somehow it was not a turnover on downs. Never seen it called that way before or since. LSU wins. Then was the year, cannot remember which, where LSU was on its last drive, time running out with no timeouts, and they inexplicably ran the ball short of the line to gain. Well, the officials felt the defense wasn’t moving fast enough to help the offense get back into position and called them for “delay of game,” giving LSU a free timeout and first down. Never seen that one before or since either. LSU wins.

Sorry you had to deny that two times. I should have picked up on your feminine vibe from your handle. I apologize.
P.s. glad it was an old shoe.

Neither did I. But.. we learned, by deduction, and this recent blockbuster announcement, a good bit more about one of our favorite posters.

    Mulllen enabled that attitude.

After the shoe throw LSU game, at his post game presser, Mullen, in his characteristic arrogance, was dismissive of the criticism and called it a "ball play".

    Ball play my arse.

I remember that. Didn't care for that, either. But no wonder that Wilson thought it was okay to quit on his team before the last game even though his personal indiscipline was the single point of failure for the loss. Leadership told him it was okay.

Even a bigger slap in the face IMO is that Wilson was a captain ... in the next game!

What a joke!! No wonder the team collapsed.

Wilson should have been banished to an eternity of stadiums.

Thank God the curse is finally broken. I was sitting there in the stands Saturday waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I'm guessing the poster you responded to is a bot. Generic one off comments in random threads.

For context, I was responding to someone who posted “this might be true” in response to someone else who opined that the curse had been broken. I was pointing out that the “curse” in fact seemed to precede the shoe toss. I was referencing previous cases of discretionary officiating where their calls favored LSU but could just have easily gone the other way under the same rules. How the shoe toss was handled is a good example of that. That sort of thing is usually handled with a 5-yard delay-of-game penalty, which would not have resulted in an LSU first down, but the officials elected to gift LSU with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct. Totally their judgment call.
