Here's where I got the LSU figure: https://www.usnews.com/education/be...with-affordable-out-of-state-tuition?slide=21 Note that UF didn’t make the top 20 cheapest OOS schools. Your turn, slicker. ("...so much nonsense." )
Ummm...that is LSU Shreveport. You realize that when people talk about LSU, they usually mean the school in Baton Rouge, right? Here is the cost of attending LSU in Baton Rouge for in state and out of state students. Turns out, City was right, it is just short of $30k tuition and $43k if you need include housing and a meal plan. Undergraduate Cost | LSU Financial Aid & Scholarships BTW, the Shreveport one didn't seem right. It isn't for on campus. That appears to be their online program, which doesn't distinguish where you are for tuition. In-person, an out-of-state student would be about $20k per year for on-campus (they give their tuition per semester, so I calculated it based on two full load semesters per year). Tuition and Fees
Ah yes, how Richard Corcoran "reformed" higher education: If your goal is to lower standards, raise costs, and drive away your best faculty, Corcoran has created quite the model to follow. And that might indeed be the goal of the anti-intellectual Republicans who would rather destroy higher education as part of their useless culture wars.
lol. Nice FAIL. How hard is it to look up the correct tuitions? UF isn’t cheap OOS. I never said it was. My oldest received an academic scholarship OOS to UF so I know exactly how expensive it could have been.
What's also notable is that every previous R governor had no problem with New School. And all of them knew what it was, that it was a "liberal" liberal-arts school, but one who scored high in those circles (and others) and thus was a benefit to the state. So they left it alone. Of course, those were real Republicans, not MAGA Morons. Now, I guess it's, what? Some kind of MAGA Madrassa?
You're lost bro... I'm the one saying UF OOS isn't cheap (it's very cheap for in state--just not OOS)--countering the suggestion that peaking applications >>>pay close attn slicker, bc here's the key >>>FROM OUT OF STATE>>> ...was due to how CHEAP Florida secondary ed is. I'm the one saying it's bc we ain't woke dumb AF (nor anti semitic), as the schools were drawing those OOS apps from. Capisce? Comprende, compadre? Dig, bro?
Dude. You got every fact wrong so I am not sure how anyone can tell what you are trying to say. First you say UF is $20K.... then I point out it is $30K... then you say LSU is cheaper.. I point out its the same.... then you linked Shreveport's online tuition... which was pointed out to you. So here is the deal.. You dont know anything accurate about tuitions much less have the ability to interpret out of state application motivation. You are making it up as you go. How can I trust anything you post on this topic when you are continually wrong? FYI.. UF has one of the lowest out of state application rates of any "flagship" school.
I said it was like 20k, not that it was 20k. That beside the point anyway. The point, is that it is NOT UF's (or other FL U's) price tag for OOS tuition n fees that's driving the spike in OOS apps--bc nothing's changed in that regard--and you chiming in with X school is </= UF, only futhers the point, it does not counter it. What changed? Publicity--Florida AND it's U's--countering woke bullshit, and taking strong public stances for our Jewish students, and against Hamas, in stark contrast to so many prestigious U's, taking just the opposite stances, just as publicly. Good Lord...
Btw, my kids are in state, so i know plenty about in stste tuition, having just cut checks to UF approx $5,000 last month. Sorry your kid resides OOS.
Has anything been published on what is driving the decisions of recent UF enrollees? Polls or interviews? It seems you are interpreting events through an existing ideology.
You've posted no data on OOS applicants to UF other than your wife says so.. unless I missed it. UF does not report acceptance rates by OOS vs instate so you cant back into it. Where is this data coming from? Id like to see it.
They haven't released any info to my knowledge--that's why I mentioned my wife--bc she's plugged in to sources to which neither i, nor the public are. Take it fwiw. Or don't. /rabbit hole.
One final point--yet again you invoke a completely irrelevant point--to wit: OOS vs on state acceptance rates??? Lol! Anything to deny the abject repugnancy of your politics, apparently...
Sigh. It's algebra. If you know the acceptance rate you could back into the applicants. We're good man. I didnt realize I was arguing with your wife's random late-night thoughts.
Ppl pay her for her knowledge and success rate in negotiating the appln process. She's able to successfully negotiate the process bc she has well placed sources. You're free to disregard my posts (regardless of source) as readily as I do the same with yours. Have a nice weekend.
No way on Earth would I "go there" in my work place. It's unfortunate that certain honest conversations cannot be had, but that's the reality. Our campus forwards initiatives that could not happen at UF in its current political climate. On the converse, I don't believe that DEI efforts are excessively counterproductive and most efforts are beneficial.
Don't you know that if you do not get the amount down to the penny, they will call you a liar. That's how they roll. Why even argue with them... change, good change, is coming to our college and university system and they hate it.
