Reposting what I posted earlier today.
Bondi does have two factors in her favor. First, she was one of the attorneys who represented Trump before the Senate in his first impeachment, as Florida AG she dropped the case against Trump University for defrauding its "students" interestingly after receiving an illegal campaign contribution from the now defunct Trump Foundation and knowing Trump she also has this in her favor.

Pam Bondi decided not to sue Trump University — and got a $25,000 donation from Trump
It also goes that without a doubt when Trump says jump she reply "How high sir?".I also wouldn't doubt that she will use the DOJ to prosecute Trump's enemies and will do her best to purge career attorneys at the DOJ who put loyalty to the Constitution and the rule of law above loyalty to Trump.

She sucks, but she's as about as "establishment" as it gets these days

When Gaetz dropped, I expected the worst. Bondi isn't the worst. She's not particularly competent or smart, but she also isn't as unhinged or dangerous as other incompetent people he picked. I'm good with this one.

This is just Trump playing 4D chess. He nominated Gaetz knowing there was no way he would get confirmed and would have to quickly back out, all so he could nominate Bondi and get her through.

I've known Pam fairly well for her entire career in Tampa at the State Attorney's Office. She is a huge Gator fan. In fact she was on the field at an away (I think maybe Tennessee) game when Alberta fell on her and broke either Pam's foot or ankle. Gaetz, on the other hand, was a Nole.,

I agree with your assessment of her...."not particularly competent or smart." She was always pleasant and fair to deal with. She was certainly not stupid by any means at all and she was a competent felony level prosecutor. She spent her last few years at the SAO acting more as Mark Ober's spokesperson than actually prosecuting cases.

While I thought she was in over her head and under qualified to be Florida AG, I voted her. She was the first person to hold statewide office whose cell number I had on speed dial. I did not vote for her the second time she ran, some of the positions she took were not consistent with the woman I knew, I was disappointed in her. I don't know what she's been doing since she left office. Perhaps she has gained significant experience that would make her more qualified for this new position. Hopefully she would be able to retain a lot of the AG's current staff and add competent people to assist her

I believe she's going to do very bad and very harmful things as AG. But we could have somebody worse in office. She's a Trump loyalist, but we were always going to get one of those after his previous term as President.
