Allegations that haven't been proven? Would you have preferred that the woman who had a sexual relations with Gaetz when she was 17 confirmed the allegations in a public hearing or that her friends would could have also confirmed the allegations testified or that the documentation showing that Gaetz paid for sex be made public. Gaetz probably withdrew to avoid the public corroboration of the allegations against him.

I don't believe so. I think he intended Blanche all along. Trump is not stupid or deaf and he's proven the latter at several stages of the campaign. He was told by many around him in no uncertain terms Gaetz would not work out. This gives Trump the fallback of "well, you (GOP senators) already nuked one of my picks and now you want to nuke another?" Trump could play that card with Kennedy's nomination. Blanche is also very capable of the 3-D chess, as we have seen.

Sorry I won't allow you to re-write the U.S. Constitution. I know that has to be a bummer, but you'll have to suck it up just like Trump's win.

CNN has done more in a week than the state of FL has in 5 years. I wonder why?

Agree that Gabbard and Hegseth are worse than RFK. Hopefully a few Repub senators will stand up against them. There's still a few Repub senators who aren't pro Russia.

If a Dem had done what Gaetz did in Florida, he'd be in jail by now along with his buddy Joel Greenberg.

And your prediction for Hegseth? These moves only have "brilliance" if you call whatever happens in advance.

I think Hegseth will be the second of Trump's nominees to withdraw. Although some on the right have been comparing the allegations of sexual assault against Hegseth with the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford against Matt Kavanaugh there is a huge difference. Blasey Ford never went to the police and didn't even mention the alleged attack by Kavanaugh which occurred when both were teens until she discussed it with her therapist around 30 years after the fact. Hegseth's accuser reported his alleged assault to the police within 24 hours and was tested with a rape kit. Big difference and although I'm no expert on the subject my guess is that the NDA that she signed will not protect Hegseth if she is subpoenaed and compelled to provide testimony.
Police report details alleged sexual assault by Trump's defense pick Pete Hegseth

FWIW Bill O’Reilly does not think Hegseth or RFK Jr get approved. I xan see them dumping Hegseth but think they fight to the end for RFK Jr

I forget, was Greenberg a Dem? Because according to you only Dems go to prison in Florida.

Gaetz is an assclown. Glad he withdrew. Hope he's gone for good but the grift is too much in DC. I'm sure he'll resurface shortly.

Why would they fight for RFK? He's not even a Republican and a lot of his obsessions aren't things Republicans care about. If he's confirmed it will be with Democratic votes.

I assume Gaetz will angle for Senate or Governor but have a suspicion that DeSantis isn't going to go out of his way to help him.

Confirmation enough from second case for doj to pursue. Perhaps this second case hadn't been discovered before?

By your own standards, Hegseth meets the minimum requirements for SOD, does he not? Perhaps I understood you wrong on this before. If we're talking about another nominee going down due to sexual misconduct allegations, I'll have to dig in more on Hegseth's situation. With Gaetz, the allegations had been out there for a few years. It's questionable whether or not Trump was even aware of Hegseth's allegations. I'll do more research and get back to you.

That's shifting. The anti-vax vote is almost if not exclusively MAGA now.

They could easily find an anti-vax Republican that didn't care about healthy lunches or whatever, that's my point. It's hard to say what they owe him if the votes arent there.

Scott like much of maga were impressed by gaetz and wanted him as one of our leaders.

“I’m disappointed. I’ve known Matt since I started running for governor, and he was a smart guy, worked hard. I had a great, great working relationship with him,” Scott said.”
