I see how that's confusing. My use of the word "that" was meant to differentiate between those seasons.

Retiring because mighty Central Michigan is about to fire everyone.

 

If he were coaching us this year, it would be exponentially uglier that the first part of the season has been.

 

It is nice to be able to retire at a relatively young age.

He made up the claim. When UF investigated it he back tracked and said it was just one or two comments. When UF continued to investigate he didn't cooperate.

He was OC for the bama NC teams. Those teams were badass- even better than sone of the later ones. Napiers philosophy is more the ground n pound style with a stifling D. Let’s do it I say..

That's what led to this narrative that he made the whole thing up.

This. I'm not a Mac fan, but his recruiting had trended up, and Mullen won his first few years with Mac's players. Trask, for instance, was a Mac recruit. Once Mullen had to compete with his recruits, things went to hell.

I really think the Grier fiasco sunk Mac. If you don't have a good QB you are in trouble--Look at FSU.
