Feds may force Google to sell off Chrome browser and break up Android bundles.

Well, let's see, the current pursuit of Google and their integrated technology is actually going to hurt Americans significantly. A fractured Android eco-system is an inefficient one. So, why are they wasting time on things like this, when they refuse to lift a finger to actually protect Americans from having their entire lives stolen, packaged, sold and re-stolen on a daily basis?

 

I thought that I had read that Duck Duck Go was basically just a user interface that uses the Android/Microsoft web view code? Security is only as strong as your web view settings?

 

I bet the vast majority of people that are on Chrome do not remember making a conscious decision to start using it. I don't use it and I get a notification every time I pull up the internet to ask if I want to switch my browser default to Chrome. I use my gmail account for when I have to register an email and don't want junk from them.

I'm a bit of a contrarian though and usually don't follow what most people are doing. I started using Apple in the 90's when Windows/PC were dominating the market.

 

I get what you're saying, Tilly. But not all sites are exactly the same. But yeah, if we're really interested in completely different browsers, then I would not use those two.

Yep. I already proved another point with a libbie that was all about Apple. I asked them to talk about something like a product or gift idea. Does that ever lead to ads on your phone or browser about that product or type of product? The look I get from them was amusing. If you have Instagram, FB, all the social media apps on your phone, the ads start showing up on those platforms. How? They listen to you through your phone. Or Alexa, that's why we don't have any of that in our house and we never will.
