By: Nick Marcinko -- November 19, 2024 DJ Lagway is back on the football field after suffering a hamstring injury in Florida’s week 10 game vs Georgia. Although, it was clear that Lagway wasn’t close to 100% healthy vs LSU. The freshman wasn’t able to swiftly move in the pocket, which often times threw off his mechanics with pressure in his face. Florida didn’t call a single designed run or read option (that Lagway actually pulled). Lagway was able to make some defenders miss in the pocket, but it didn’t look easy or comfortable, and he was never a threat to take off and run. DJ Lagway’s mobility could be the deciding factor in week 13 | GatorCountry.com
Like I said in another thread, I hope that even if DJ won't be able to scramble that we do it once early on to at least give the perception that he *could* do it for the rest of the game... CBN is going to have to have a really good game plan, and our guys are going to have to be on their A-game in order to have a shot at this one!
Yes. The Ole Miss pass rush is really good, so it is key for Lagway to avoid it. Let's hope his hamstring is good to go.
I agree with your comments. In this case, lets hope that the Gator O Line opens up some holes for the Gator running backs. They have shown us that they can rip off some big gainers.
Lagway's best pass was when he was under major pressure, and he simply stepped up in the pocket and flicked the ball right into Badger's hands, where he was tackled at the one-foot line. So at worst it was hit-and-miss for him under pressure. But to say he wasn't very efficient is misleading, because the percentages of pass completions under pressure doesn't tell the whole story. But it would be nice to see Lagway play with more mobility...
Hope Lagway can run and run early. There is more film on him and good defenses can scheme something up to confuse him. Ole Miss will be watching to adjust their game plan if he looks like he can run.
