    Astoundingly unqualified.

And yet I love her. Because I love that wise, great man, Donald Trump.*

Trump's cabinet meetings are going to be like the Star Wars bar scene.

Can you point out this person's qualifications making them an appropriate fit for SoE?

She once pretended to have a degree in education. (Seriously)

she was a very successful business owner
she served on the Conn State school board
she is a strong supporter of school choice
she is a strong supporter of Chsrter Schools
She served on Trumps Cabinet in Trump 1
and my biggest one - you libbies hate her and it drives you crazy you cannot stop her from being approved

and just like y’all claimed that Bill Clinton’s philandering and womanizing was not a mark against Hillary - Vince’s reprehensible behavior is not a mark against Linda

See upthread. I don't view that as much of an indictment. There are likely much more serious concerns.

Can you provide a link wrt the school board work? It's the only one that marginally qualifies. Your comment about driving libbies crazy is disappointing and contributes nothing of value to the conversation.

BTW Charter schools continue to fail miserably.

It's multiple levels of bureaucracy. Across the board we have many governmental agencies and employees doing the same job.

Musk will be perfect to guide the transistion to smaller government, i.e., SpaceX/NASA:

"SpaceX is considered significantly more efficient than NASA, particularly in terms of cost and speed of operations, with studies showing SpaceX can be up to 10 times cheaper and twice as fast as NASA for comparable missions".

From what I can find on this- she says she was reviewing the questionaire and saw this and immediately contacted the governors office to correct the mistake prior to the interview process. Since she was appointed I can only assume(and yes I know what assume means) this was the case.

Here's the 76yr old SoE's shining qualification: McMahon briefly served on the Connecticut State Board of Education before she quit to run for the Senate and lost. She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in French.

Maybe it was her partnership in World Wrestling Entertaining that best qualified her.

Thanks, but that is not what I was referring to. Do you really think I care about Nazi indoctrination? You suggested something similar in saying: Using the centralized power of government to brainwash children

Give your suggestion that the U.S. DoE should be expunged, what is your evidence of centralized government brainwashing U.S. children in schools?

You read the post the wrong way. If Trump was to be an authoritarian in the same vein as Hitler, then he would use the DOE to brainwash children into MAGA ideology. That does not appear to be what is happening.

Not discussing the merits of the nomination but everyone should see that something needs to change with US education. In the 60's, 70's, and even into the 90's the US was #1 in the world in educational rankings.
Was the USA ever No. 1 in education?

As recently as 2022 we were 16th. That is not a trend that is in our favor. Changes need to be made.
U.S. Education Rankings Are Falling Behind the Rest of the World

    Key Takeaways
    • The U.S. placed 16th out of 81 countries in science when testing was last administered in 2022.
    • The top five math-scoring countries in 2022 were all in Asia.
    • U.S. students' math scores have remained steady since 2003. Their science scores have been about the same since 2006.
    • The IMD World Competitiveness Center reports that the U.S. ranked 12th in its 2024 Competitiveness Report after ranking first in 2018.

Is anybody “sullying” McMahon, or just pointing out she has absolutely zero credentials in education? There’s plenty of crap about Vince McMahon who by all accounts is a very messed up individual. But all the focus seems to be on Linda’s lack of relevant experience.

Compare to the current guy - who had a long career starting out as an elementary teacher, became a school principal, then a state education secretary (from a state with top tier education system). At least all that seems a rational pathway. I admittedly don’t really know much about the guy nor do I care too, literally forgot who it was until looking up his background. But at least on paper that background makes sense for an Education Secretary.

McMahon has absolutely zero experience as an educator. None. Nada. Zilch. The only apparent things related to education is that she spent one semester getting a teaching certificate, and apparently at one point she was going to serve on CT’s state board of education (another political post), but immediately quit to run for Senate instead.

Zero chance this lady will be blocked, and it’s not the first time a rich donor got a vanity post, but it’s pretty asinine to pretend the criticism is unwarranted.
