Pretty accurate summation! For us spectators, the second half was more of something to be endured rather than enjoyed. The players and staff looked unhappy about it too.
About to face the "meat" of the non conference games. S Illinois, Wake, Virginia, Arizona State, UNC, Whicita State / Minn and others pose challanges. NC lost to KS by 3 in a tight game. I think we will have a better feel where the Gators stand after this run of contests.
Yea Condon did all the little things but couldn't buy a bucket. Did Clayton even score in the 2nd half? Klazvar was obviously rusty from 3. I also thought in general we rushed to many 3s. Shaqs kid is not very good, not very active on the offensive end, and tends to stand around, and is off the ball movement looks like a kid who doesn't want the ball.
Alexis' absence really highlighted that we would need a 5th big in the event of an injury or serious foul trouble. The next man up would be Mikic, but I get the impression he is far from ready to play serious minutes. the logical option would be Richard at the four, with his minutes going to Klavzar and Brown
"Like I talked about with the guys in the locker room, our expectation is to be able to play two complete halves. A full 40 minutes," UF coach Todd Golden said. "I thought we played 20 really good minutes in the first half and we were just OK in the second. A lot to improve upon." He's being very generous with "20 really good minutes in the first half" as I'd say 10 really good minutes. The first 10 minutes of the game were only "so-so".
Guessing that the next time Alex gets off 14 shots, he'll make at least 10 of them. He missed a number of bunnies that are generally money for him. I thought Klazvar's FG attempts were good decisions. Feel confident he'll start knocking them down. He sure did have a couple of great passes. I was super impressed with Isaiah. Tough for him to get much PT with our deep rotation, but that kid has a lot of hustle and bounce. Seems to have a great attitude. Glad he's a Gator.
Condo got fouled a lot but missed most of his free throws. Make those and we wouldn't think of it as too bad a game. I just don't think he was zeroed in last night, which is not what he's known for.
Yeah, Young was great. I just tuned out the second half and listened to the conversation around him. What a Gator.
I wonder if he was suffering from what kept Denzel and Sam out. It was very uncharacteristic of Condon.
