Apparently it’s a new league rule this year.

Interesting comment. Kiffin trying to sound cocky. Would be funny if his qb gets knocked and that derails their playoff hopes.

I may be off base but, I’m going to state it. Lot of posters whose thoughts almost always line up with mine won’t agree.
Kiffin has evolved as a person and a coach. But even the old Kiffin, who I really disliked, didn’t seem to me the type to have his players injure an opposing player. Even more so for the modern version of LK.
Mark Stoops would probably subtly encourage his players to do it and holier than thou Bowden definitely had his henchman, Micky Andrew’s, out to injure players. But Kiffin just doesn’t strike me as that type. He is cocky, likes to “poke the bear”, highly competitive, and brash at times but, I don’t think dirty play is in his playbook. ( Albeit he overdid the fake injury drama in one game I watched).

They will "bring the heat" and do all they can to knock DJL around, while it's not exactly "kosher" for an opposing coach to say "hurt the guy" every team with Alpha Males rushing the QB, including at UF, have no issue seeing an opposing QB go to the sidelines "beat up".

I agree. My interpretation of Kiffin's comments are consistent with my impression of him as a coach who respects Lagway as a formidable opponent, and would like to see his defense make Lagway so uncomfortable -- not by injuring him, but by flushing him out of the pocket, or forcing him to rush his throws, or smothering him with coverage sacks -- that he is rendered ineffective by virtue of his pre-existing injury and has to be replaced.

We won't know the extent to which Lagway has regained his pre-injury mobility until game day. Assuming he's still somewhat restricted, however, I would expect the offensive game plan to be fashioned around schemes that make protecting him a priority, which probably means no designed QB runs or RPO calls that would expose him to the risk of further injury, but a healthy dose of quick outs, slants, and tunnel screens that require a fairly quick release, with the option for Lagway to fake short and look deep when and if he senses adequate protection. I'd love to see the Gators string together some first-half drives using the short passing game and force the Ole Miss LBs and secondary to start cheating up towards the line of scrimmage, because that could open up opportunities for another Baugh Breakaway or two in the second half.

OTOH, if Lagway has fully recovered and is back to 100% mobility, Billy can open up the playbook and fire away on all fronts.

Dooley used to say UF was so hated because it was only school in the conference without an accent. (Although Tom Petty has an excellent song that begged to differ).

I’m not ready to anoint Kiffin as The Messiah. But I can’t put the fsu stank on him.

I understand everyone has an opinion, but the words coming DIRECTLY out of Kiffin's mouths IMO, supersede your opinion.
I don't see how anyone who is rational can interpret Kiffin's words anyway but "we have to knock DJ out of the game". There is only 1 way for DJ to and leave the game on Saturday and Ole Miss get to the next QB, and that is if he gets injured. For his team to get to the next QB, he is directly stating they have to knock him out of the game. It' very clear cut..

Exactly our DL would love to pound their quarterback into the turf. It’s still part of the game right? Good clean hits nothing dirty.

I agree that LK was probably not musing aloud about the desirability of actually knocking a kid out of the game intentionally. I view it more as unseemly and inappropriate guff from a fellow who's infamous for it. The only time you'll see me personally use the phrase "personal class" when talking about LK will be to say he hasn't got any.

Like others have said, Lane has had another week to prep for this game. They get one of their best receivers back who has been out for several weeks. Key stat - Ole Miss #2 ranked offense in the country in big plays of 20+ yards and UF defense ranked 125th against big plays of 20+ yards.

Not exactly. What Kiffen is saying is let's force Lagway to run and reinjure his hamstring forcing our 3rd string walkon to finish the game.

No doubt, those are a few of the reasons Ole Miss is, perhaps justifiably, favored by 10.5 in this game. But as usual, bare stats don't tell the whole story. For example, it merits noting IMO that the Rebels' offense was able to fatten up on their first four games, in which they outscored some underwhelming OOC opponents by a total of 220-22. Granted that they've been impressive in their most recent wins against Arkansas and Georgia, those early cakewalks have skewed the overall season stats a bit.

Conversely, while Florida's record, including its statistical record against big plays, appears dismal by comparison, I believe it's more encouraging when viewed in light of the relative strength of the Gators' schedule and the signs of trending improvement exhibited in more recent performances. In addition to what I sense is a renewed enthusiasm among the players and coaches, I think the value of fan support in the Swamp should not be underestimated. Adrenaline can be a powerful drug.

Make no mistake: If the Gators can find a way to win, it will be regarded as a major upset. But unless I'm playing with someone else's money, I wouldn't dare to wager on the outcome of this game.

lane has a good team…but his cocky attitude will rub off on his team and they could lay an egg like they did against Kentucky

DJ isn't coming out of a game unless he's hurt or it's mop up time. Who are you going to replace him with? DJ having a bad day is still our best option.
