While I’d rather all of this not be happening since I can’t control it I’ve decided to sit back and enjoy the shit show. All of these undecided assholes who thought Trump would be OK and things would go back to normal can be proud of what they’ve accomplished.

    Unqualified? Check.

Credible allegations of sex crimes? Check.

Man, I'd hate to be a black light at a Trump cabinet meeting.

Vince McMahon and WWE accused of allowing 'rampant' sexual exploitation of young boys by announcer in new lawsuit

The suit, filed in Baltimore County, Maryland, accuses McMahon and his wife, Linda McMahon, and World Wrestling Entertainment and its parent company, TKO Holdings, of allowing the "open, rampant abuse" of so-called "ring boys" as young as 12 who acted as assistants to ringside announcer Melvin Phillips Jr. in the 1980s and 1990s.

Why does education belong at the state level? I don't understand that premise on its face, and I have yet to read a justification for the assertion.

I would point out that the President cannot summarily decide to eliminate the Department of Education, since it was created by LAW when congress passed the Department of Education Organization Act and it was signed by the President in 1979. It is the purview of Congress alone to undo that law. However, laws have never really meant much to Donald Trump, so I do believe he will do everything he can to violate federal law as opposed to doing the job of the President in upholding US law.

This law, more than many others is a bane on the existence of most of you righties. Just think, if the president illegally abolishes the department and its charter, those great enlightened right-wingers who have gerrymandered and co-opted so many states can return to the days where the states can pick and choose who gets educated and who does not. Should be great returning us to the early 1800's when we decide that women, blacks, newly arrived immigrants, special needs children, etc....are not worth educating! The right-wing Republi-ban Utopia right there.

Comparisons to Hitler are made when they are convenient, and they are bypassed when they are inconvenient. Federal power over education is one such instance where comparisons to Hitler are bypassed.

Education is not a Constitutional right. The 10th Amendment put the States in Charge of Education. Now there have been some much needed court cases to make sure students rights were protected over the last 50 years. But the founding Fathers never intended for the Federal government to control education.

Sorry, but I think that the right-wing victimhood over using the rhetoric of Hitler, then.....when that rhetoric is condemned....... complaining of the horrible, unfair comparisons to Hitler......doesn't really extend to this discussion over Department of Education.

Or did I miss something here? Did someone say something really unkind on this, which included a Hitler comparison?

"Shit show" is an apt description. I saddens and alarms me that Trump is clearly putting loyalty to him over country. Don't get me wrong, every President wants those closest to him to be loyal to his agenda. I've no problem with that, but that's not what he's doing. He's putting second rate people in positions of great influence..... and there will be dire unintended consequences.

This isn't "draining the swamp". It's creating one.

The federal gov does not control education. FAIL. Try again. While you're at it, explain why all men are not created equal and students with disabilities do not deserve equal protections in education. Go

Education is not a “right” spelled out in the constitution, but it is federal law and all states have compulsory education. At this point it’s basically a defacto right for all children to have their opportunity for an k-12 education.

Are you seriously suggesting there should he instances where kids ought to be deprived an education? Or that states should be able to just end public schools or go back to segregated schools based on “states rights”?
