Should we not actually be congratulating Trump for finally nominating someone not credibly accused of either adultery or sexual assault? Or both.

 

Giving credit where credit is due Dr. Oz has been a very gifted and innovative cardiovascular surgeon. That alone doesn't mean that he has the credentials to manage one of the largest bureaucracies in the federal government. Unless I missed it he has no experience managing a large organization in either the government or the private sector.

 

He knows more about medicine and the human body than anyone on this board(and 95%) of people on the planet.

That's like saying a guy on the assembly line is qualified to be CEO of Ford. Is he going to individually treat everyone on Medicare and Medicaid? Cause otherwise his qualifications as a doctor are only a small percent of what this position requires. And that ignores his recent decent in quackery.

Which person is better suited to oversee a 1.3 trillion$ budget? The heart surgeon turned TV quack?

Medicare often is loaded with bureaucratic nonsense that has zero to do with patient care.

Did his TV talk show take Medicare?

The dude absolutely has credentials as a medical doctor (not as an administrator of an insurance program, but as a doctor). However, that is what makes his decision to turn around and build a career around claiming untested supplements were "magic pills" that would help you lose weight or *insert thing that housewives watching his show cared about* so despicable. He knows better. And, in fact, he used the fact that he did know better to help the con.

 

If that's the job requirement, 'Must have some understanding of the issues with Medicare', most of us on this message board are qualified too.
