How ‘bout we let things play out? Top 10 last year when LJ and the other kid jumped in the class late. BN has had his hands tied because of all of the speculation. Now things are moving. It’s only been 72 hours since LSU/Strickland VOC and already tons of activity and movement. Have a drink, take a nap, meditate, pray, go for a run - something. Come back in a few weeks and let’s see where we are. Don’t worry, I’m not keeping receipts. We’re all hopeful and nervous at the same time.

The issue is about our recruiting trending up. We've had 3 recruits commit since Saturday, and you're just griping incessantly without acknowledging that we've improved 30+ spots in less than 2 weeks. Go read your posts. Not a single positive comment about anything since the big win Saturday.

Holy crap, not a positive post in 3 days? My account is like 10 years old dude.
And lol. Yes our class was so bad that two three stars and a FSU QB commit sky rocketed it 30 spots. You’re acting like we just got 3 5 stars and we are now in the top 5 or something.
Don’t you realize that the fact that our class was so bad that 2 3 stars a a4 star moved it up 30 spots - 3 weeks from ESD - bolsters my point?

You realize our class was ranked so poorly because it is so small and adding a couple 3 stars and a 4 star qb speaks to the fact that while still a small class it moved up considerably right? If it was a bad group of commitments then signing more 3 stars wouldn't move it up....

And none of this is to say people are "happy where we are at." I mean I feel your frustration but as someone who jumped off the Napier train after Miami I can admit the team finally improved and there appears to be enough support from the players that lagway and several others would leave if he got canned. If the team continued to get blown out and the players set an ultimatum then you still have to blow it all up and cut losses but doing so during the current upswing while also having a dearth of coaching candidates isn't wise.

All that aside, what people are taking exception to here is your recruit bashing either directly or indirectly. I'd ask thar you just take a step back and cool off man. Again, I get it but this isn't the subject to vent and take out frustrations when it basically amounts to crapping on kids. I don't care about Georgia pulling a 5 star and opening up the kids recruitment to us. People said the same about boireau and he had significant impact as a true freshman as a DT which isn't a common thing for that position.

Your first paragraph is my point.

crapping on kids? That’s quite a stretch. I hope FSU loses every game they play, will that be twisted into crapping on kids to? Should we accept every player no matter how good because we don’t want to hurt the kids feelings?

That doesn't make your point though. It was small because of the trepidation (rightfully so at one point) over Napier's future. The quality of those committed is good and if you drop the kickers the average star rating put them up just outside the top 10. So adding 3 stars bumped the class considerably. That wouldn't happen if we took a bunch of flyers and had 20 kids committed already. The plan (we hope) is to lean heavy in the portal at a couple key positions while still building depth from recruiting. Is all of this ideal? Of course not but it really does seem to be the best course of action when all things are considered.

Every coach has players that like them. I wonder if Zook would have been canned if Meyer wasn't available. The difference is there is no Meyer available and the team has looked better, not worse as the season progressed. That along with Fervent support by a potentially "generational talent" at qb changes things. It just does.

And maybe it's not your intention but bashing a recruit commitment because he was dropped by Georgia is bashing the kid and his value. That's all.

Edit to add: we lost Bowens to Georgia last year and got Baugh who was underrated. How's that working out for us?

You’re taking that as bashing, that’s your opinion. That doesn’t mean it’s the case. I am bashing our recruiting staff for only being able to get somebody from UGA after they have been dropped. Or stealing people from the worst university in Florida, FSU.
If you take that as a slight on the kid - that’s on you.

Yes….I understand….and either way, some would say the fact that our class is so small this close to ESD is pathetic and nape should be fired for that alone. But! I would never say that because I think everything is going well, I don’t even like winning

I mean I think I'm having a reasonable take on all this. Perception is reality and bashing the commitments in each of their threads as not worthy of takes is perceived as bashing the kids whether your intention or not.

And again with the sarcasm at the end. I went from ardent supporter to fully on board with firing Napier into the sun but situations evolve and our current situational management is the best chance we have to turn this thing around. Myles Graham graded as the top freshman defender this week. Baugh was up there recently. Lagway is as well. The bones are here with the team as long as we don't suffer massive attrition and pull here and there from the portal. That changes if they can Napier and bring in anyone other than a superstar and I don't see any out there.

When you post slights, it's on you. In this very thread you've called our class a turd and pathetic. At least own your bullshit.

And when Napier gets fired in 2025 how much of that top talent stays? I don’t want to waste Lagways potential in this offense and piss poor coaching and it’s going to suck so bad watching it all.

This thread is to welcome the newest Gator commit, Daniel Pierre Louis! The fans of our program like to cheer for our team and its newest member. We are Gators who cheer for Gators!

All this other diarrhea on the program is off topic and does not belong in the thread.

This class is pathetic by the UF standard. On what planet is that a controversial statement? Also I have personally been called a turd, where did I call a recruit a turd? I haven’t commented on the personal side of a single recruit lol

Yeah that will suck but it's not a forgone conclusion by any stretch. They come out next year as poorly prepared as they did this year I'll be right there with you. What's the point in dumping any optomism though? I don't know if it's fool's gold or if it's true improvement but if the defense had looked like they have lately in any of the past 5 years then Mullen and Napier teams would have won several more games. Several. We haven't seen any improvement on that side of the ball in years. Couple that with lagway and company and I think you have to sit back and let it play out. Ymmv

I said in this very thread you've called our class a turd and pathetic.

The class, which isn't finished btw, is comprised of the players in said class. I'm sure you'll now backpedal and say you meant something else. You've also downplayed "flipping a three star from Norvell" in the thread about the kid's commitment. Here on planet Earth it's obvious what you're doing.

I have him blocked but it sounds like a booting and a thread Cleanup is necessary. Shitting on a recruit welcome thread is definitely over the line.

Class ranking is part of program development. Sometimes you need a lot of bodies. Sometimes you need smaller number, higher stars.

We have a TON of minutes going to first/second year players. Pipeline is pretty good...

...if you can keep players. That's the next thing. Stuffing the NIL budget helps. Having some positive momentum (especially as FSU and LSU trend down) helps. Frankly, having a staff that current players raves about, helps.

As does actually getting players admitted into school. Which matters more for program development than "who won signing day."

I wish there was a metric that tracked 4-year program development.

I haven't had as much time to visit Awesome Recruiting . . . but will now. If things don't improve voluntarily, and substantially, they will improve otherwise. 99% don't do it but we will not tolerate any of our kids being bashed, including recruits.

I really appreciate those who have taken up for the kids!
