President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use a powerful American long-range weapon for limited strikes inside Russia in response to North Korea’s deployment of thousands of troops to aid Moscow’s war effort, according to two senior U.S. officials.

The easing of restrictions on allowing Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia is a significant reversal in U.S. policy and comes as some 10,000 elite North Korean troops have been sent to Kursk, a region of Russia along Ukraine’s northern border, to help Moscow’s forces retake territory gained by Ukraine.

The Biden administration fears that more North Korean special forces units could follow in support of this effort.

Diamond Joe does it again. He knows that Putin and the Russian military is weak at this point and is all talk when it comes to threatening the US and NATO

It's going to be fun to see team Trump/Putin strenuously argue that Ukraine should give up appx 30% of its territory to the most flagrant military aggression since WW2.

I assume the timing of this has to do with losing the election and trying to force someone's hand before the presidential transition. That's the only thing I can imagine.

I, for one, am pretty darn upset that Ukraine used these nasty weapons......

......against the good Russian people who are just trying to take over Ukraine in order to cleanse it of the pervasive Nazi element that Putin's told us has taken over!! Starting with that Jewish Nazi, Zelensky!!

Trump will soon put an end to this Ukrainian aggression, and return their territory to its traditional (Soviet) borders of Russian control!! (Then he'll build a wall and release his health care plan)

There have also been US warnings to Russia of the escalating using NK troops. There are NK troops now fighting in a war in Europe

I heard all the NK troops are much more into their new found access to pornography outside of the confines of North Korea. And less interested in fighting..... There's been some funny anecdotes

Fair points, but Putin could give nukes to Iran in retaliation against US long range misses we gave Ukraine. This won’t end well for anyone

The Biden Admin has been terrified of escalation and Ukraine has been asking for these restriction to be lifted since late Spring. I think the North Korean troops showing up was viewed by the Biden Admin as an escalation, so they responded in kind.

Putin is not stupid. Russia learned their lesson from what happened when China developed nuclear weapons.

True, but he’s very clever & will retaliate in some form. If this was done in retaliation to Trump winning so he has less of a chance to succeed as president (timing suggests this), it makes me wonder how far the deep state will go to maintain power vs the welfare of it’s citizens.

This likely had more to do with North Korean troops and equipment than the election. Biden likely wanted to hold off until after the election since doing this prior to it would likely be seen as trying to influence it.

I’ve heard the same. My guess, though, is that for the most part the NKs are fighting to a degree and bringing more net value than headache to the Russians. Still important to attrit as many of them as possible.

I agree that on balance this would not be in Putin’s interest to give nukes to Iran.
