I'm not saying it's widespread. I'm only stating that this woman is saying it wasn't an isolated incident.
Your claim that they did for safety falls flat on its face the minute she was fired. My point is spot on given the same circumstances if the race and roles were reversed the crimes of racism would be heard round the world.
I have to concede that was somewhat skeptical when I read the original post. I should have read the other posts in the thread specifically the one with the link to the CNN article confirming the story posting my reply. Still no credible evidence that discrimination based on yard signs was systemic and speaking only for myself I'm really glad that she was expeditiously terminated.
Total nonsense. It is ABSOLUTELY 1000% clear from the context that is EXACTLY what this is. People frequently get fired in the hopes it will save someone else's job. Look no further than the football board...lower level coaches and coordinators getting fired to save a head coach's job.
Sorry man, even some of the left leaning posters don’t agree with your assessment. Like I said up thread if it was a white dude suggesting avoiding houses in black neighborhoods with Harris signs the racist charges would be all over the place. Now the “supervisor” is claiming it wasn’t just in NC. We will see if she has proof. If that pans out what is the excuse then? There weren’t reports (debunked) of armed militia going around in Florida were there? Your partisan blinders are on fully here.
I don't believe this was an official policy from FEMA out of Washington DC but I believe the lady who was fired wasn't the top person who started this policy either.
I said I understood the safety concern. It wasnt her decision to make though. This thread was started as an accusation there was a conspiracy to persecute conservatives - you know the most victimized group in the world - this thread falls flat.
I am wondering why you don't believe the former FEMA employee saying this has been happening more than we know about? Do you have any evidence that she is lying? Are you not believing her because it would make previous held belief that FEMA wouldn't do this be wrong? Or is it because politically it makes the Biden/Harris admin look bad?
Well if that’s what you’re defending(there wasn’t a concerted effort to avoid Trump houses), at this point I’d tend to agree. She however didn’t make the suggestion “for safety”.
While I realize that there's a tendency to ignore distinctions when promoting a political narrative, there is a difference between giving a worker the discretion to bypass certain homes where they may feel uncomfortable or they may feel that the homeowner may react violently and a blanket policy of intentionally ignoring homes with Trump signs. The two are not the same. There is documented animosity among supporters of Trump towards workers representing the government. Although the issue was completely different I recall anti-vaxxers threatening to shoot canvassers promoting the Covid vax. Considering that the right-wing media and especially the right-wing media promoting distrust towards FEMA workers it's understandable while they might avoid houses with Trump signs. It's almost an article of faith among certain conservatives and it goes back to a cute statement from Reagan that when someone says "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" not to trust them.
Rationalizing skipping a political party LOL. That is some next level BS right there. Almost have to tip my cap to you for trying hard to make that post sounds rational when it’s just trying to justify skipping people in need. If FEMA were skipping black neighborhoods or known dem neighborhoods I’m sure you’d be writing the same thing…
Whether you're willing to admit it or not threats are real and once again FEMA has never had a systemic policy to bypass all homes with Trump signs or to ignore specific neighborhoods in which the majority of residents happen to be Republicans. Federal personnel are facing threats during hurricane response, DHS chief warns Federal employees aiding in disaster response and recovery efforts are facing threats that could lead to harm, Homeland Security Department Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas cautioned on Thursday, saying his agency would help protect those being targeted. The threats followed significant misinformation regarding the federal government’s response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, including false rumors pushed by former President Trump. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the rest of the Biden administration have repeatedly sought to correct the record, but federal responders are now facing consequences from the distribution of various hoaxes and distorted narratives.
If someone in great authority had tried to avoid helping an entire state, I'm sure you'd be absolutely OUTRAGED by it, correct? Or....not so much?
