(VB) Ongoing Volleyball Thread

Probably the slowest starting team we ever had. Takes them a minute to settle in

 

getting a 16 seed gets you pitt in the round of 16, if web get there,no thanks.

 

Won 2nd and 3rd sets

 

Props...this is a quality gut check test and they are passing.

 

Why in the world do we go back to parks?

 

Lost 4th set 25-22

 

AC goes out half way through that set, we finish the other half with Hardin getting 1 swing...they have no faith her.

 

We are ahead in 5th set 13-5

 

Won the 5th set and match...good win Gators!

 

Kennedy Martin will go down as the best player in UF history by the time her career is over, even ahead of Cruz. She is ridiculous.

 

I'll take home court advantage.

With the great win tonight, what are the chances that we will be in the top 16 and host? Good? 50/50? Slim? Virtually none?

 

Awesome win, awesome night! I watched our men's hoops beat FSU and then switched over to catch the last 4 sets of volleyball.

 

Not bad for a team that is not very good. Lot of gas in the tank for the 5th set. I like the way CMW went deep in the bench. All played well. Congrats to Kennedy Martin on her career night in kills.

Better than Cruz? Wowzers...maybe as a pure hitter and carrying so much burden but thats yet to be determined. Cruz is a mount Rushmore player for florida. Kills, aces. Digs. also relied upon in passing and setting all those records in probably less sets because back then florida was sweeping..Throw in some final four and national finals, coming back from I think two major knee injuries and she probably wasn't the size of Martin if memory serves me. K Mart will be damn good and maybe our best right side player (that Murphy wasn't too shabby and playing all those years on the national team proves how good she was) i will definitely give her a spot on the mountain by the time she's done but it's gonna take a lot for me to surpass Cruz. If she can get this team to one finals appearance given the offensive load she has to carry could be a good argument....all that said I'm damn glad she's here!

 

Cruz and Murphy are the two best players in program history, IMO. Thayer Hall could have and should have been up there, but due to injuries it never panned out as we would have hoped being a highly hyped #1 overall recruit. Martin is the Amazonian 6’6 OH terminator this program has always missed, and finally has. She has no weaknesses to her game and has the height to hit over everybody on the court. Cruz and Murphy were amazing, but Martin has the higher ceiling due to her size.

 

Gut check win on the road. Kennedy Martin is a special player and McKissock is just a hustler that keys the defense. I love A C Fitzpatrick, but the quality teams shut her down. Great effort, though, and a big time win. They should go undefeated the rest of the way and head into the NCAA tournament with momentum. Gooo Gators!!

Pittsburgh has three (3) semifinalists for AVCA Division I Player of the Year. That team's a beast. It will probably be them vs Nebraska (only two [2] semifinalists-neither are Beason) in the NCAA Championship finals.

 

Imagine if we played the same pre-season schedule as last year's with all the injuries. We would've starting the SEC schedule under .500. I'm still surprise that we managed to beat FSU without Kennedy Martin.
