I cant speak to how they will feel in the future but I agree - economic pain is coming no matter who runs the country.

Maybe you should reread the thread. Was responding to a post that didn't believe Trump was a cheater.

Just a guess within two years and perhaps far sooner, T-shirts and bumper stickers with a picture of Joe Biden and the caption "Miss me yet?" will become very popular.

There’s *NO* consumer toaster made in the USA and I already told you what I found. So it’s not a matter of you “doing my research” for me as an opportunity to show me that I’m wrong on that by specifying a USA made model.

There’s still a decent amount tools made in USA from what I can tell. Which I view as a good thing, shows that production doesn’t have to go overseas. I’d wonder how many are privately held companies, because public companies have constant pressure to expand margins whereas a private or family run company may take more time to consider such moves.

No clue on slow-cookers, I suspect it’s a commodity electronics product like toasters that just arent made here, but I haven’t looked into it - not sure Ive ever bought one (the slow cooker I have must be like 40+ years old!).

I don’t think any of these items are a “store of value” so not quite sure of your point. You seem to have an issue with fractional reserve banking, which generally means things get more expensive over time. Unwinding free trade isn’t so much a “lesson” on the stored value of money as it is making yourself instantly poorer with govt imposed restrictions on trade.

My apologies Bling. My wife corrected me and you are right. We could not find a US toaster. The slow cooker and blender are US and the toaster is a made in china Smeg.

As for the labor pool shock, I agree. Ive been in residential construction for years. Was a brick mason laborer for my uncle in my teenage summers. Ive seen the mass demographic changes in the labor force. Its not that blacks and whites are lazy or too good for the work, or that hispanics work harder. It is impossible to compete with illegal labor who get the same wage but dont pay payroll tax, workers comp, ect. Its an instant 30% disadvantage. I dont know what the best solution is (tariffs, deportations, flat sales tax) but i believe there is one. If we continue down this path of debt and inflation.....math is math and it will correct itself. No one will have time to mow their grass because its spent standing in a bread line.

The solution is actually simple. Give the ones that have jobs temporary work visas, and have them paid above the table at least at a minimum wage (although this demand is kind of funny considering Republicans would want to abolish a minimum wage). It’s all kind of incoherent when you think about it. Republicans want to abolish minimum wage and labor laws because “free markets”, but then on the other hand they want heavy handed govt restriction on trade (not so free markets).

I’m sure there would be cheaters who do it for tax cheat purposes even on my “temporary work visa” proposal, but even if you only got half in compliance that narrows the field of cheaters you have to go after.

Today you will be shocked to learn that a YouTube video is full of shit, and that not a single one of those is made in USA.

Sir, you honestly haven't figured this out yet?

That "30% lower paid" (or similar) labor force is here because American businesses want it here, and here in the fashion it is. Mentally repeat that as needed.

Why do American businesses want this? So they can make more money. Who is making the money? The owners (who are frequently stockholders), not the laborers.

This is part of what makes the Trump con so magnificent to behold, and him the greatest con man of modern times. He's conned a huge amount of workers that he's actually going to help them, when in reality he's just going to keep the status quo in place....because it helps people like himself.

Disagree? Just look at history. Trump has a documented history of using illegal labor for past construction in New York. Or for employment at resorts.
    - "He's just smart!" - some say.....as they cast a vote for him to continue more of the same.

Sure, though - he'll say the right words - "They're eating dogs and cats and threatening you and FEMA gave them all the money!!!!!" And he'll pretend to build a wall, or whatever else he can do that will just extend an unsolvable fight, from which he can continue to tell his lies.

Crazy that anyone hasn't figured this out yet. Also, though - why didn't he propose any longterm solutions to immigration the first time? Because he.....DOESN'T CARE.

If you had the sound on, it sounds like an AI generated video. So basically one of those worthless “AI generated content” designed to generate clicks… and yeah ironically good chance the video did come from China. It’s basically YouTube spam.

YouTube videos are not a good source of info. Granted, TooHot posters aren’t either lol. So I understand not wanting to just take my word for it. All I can say is I really looked into this a couple of years ago, and gave up the quest for a made in USA toaster as it simply didn’t exist. Apparantly Rump’s wife backs me up now. :emoji_grinning:

This is why we should just surrender to the Chinese now, the people who are scared the most of China will just google a video that tells them Chinese stuff is actually American, they believe it like the rubes they are, and they buy the Chinese stuff

From what I understand, apparently there are people paid to generate this stuff. AI slop is particularly prevalent on facebook. You got people in the 3rd world generating fake pictures of firefighters with American flags and kittens to generate engagement on facebook. I think most of what I see on FB now is generated contented in fake groups I'm not a part of. But apparently it works? People will just like AI slop saying "share if you like troops and flags"

I think communists just proved they are smarter than you, so like I said, we should surrender before its too late.
