Lloyd, a four-star signee, comes to the Gators from Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale and is ESPN's No. 34-ranked player in the class. Lloyd, at 6-foot-4, helped lead Westminster to the 3A state regional finals in 2023-24.

    Great pickup!

Amazing anyone is committing in these "uncertain times"

I always look at shooting percentages. If you can't make shots in high school gyms against high school defenders, you can't make them in High D1 hoops. Looks like Lloyd shoots it really well.

I assume you mean that it might not be so uncertain.

Golden has a good eye for talent. #34 means a lot better than that.

If I had to read tea leaves, it's either:

    The kid knows something

    Or

Hes commiting to a school not a coach.

And just like every thing else in this whole mess, neither seem very likely.

Golden wouldn’t be permitted to discuss the investigation with anyone outside of official investigators, his immediate supervisor, a union representative, or legal counsel. Discussing with anyone else could carry its own ramifications.

Agreed. So moving to my second option, the kid is committing to a school not a coach.

Does that really happen. In CBB?

Its possible that we're just giving him a good enough package that he doe$nt care who coaches him if the check clears.

I really don't know. Just seems like a weird time to commit to UF basketball.

It could be the NIL or maybe like some on this board, he grew up a diehard Gator and knew the whole time what he wanted. I know the clown school could have offered me the moon and I still would have told them to pound sand. Or maybe he said, “Coach, you gonna be there?” To which Golden replied, “Absolutely.” We know nothing other than a very talented athlete is verbally committed.

There's still location, location, location. Lloyd lives in Fort Lauderdale and it's driving distance to Gainesville.

It also seems like there’s been an increase of in state talent the last few years. I would imagine that has helped UF sign some better talent.

It also may be we are losing our 3 starting guards??? I assume he has a relationship with Brown too.

PT would no doubt be a factor as is with all recruits.

I just watched some footage of Lloyd. A very fluid athlete with great body control, a really nice stroke, good court vision. and what looks like good ball IQ. Offensively he looks fantastic and a great fit for CTG Florida basketball.

Are still in contention for his Westminster teammate Alex Constanza?
