If anybody ever tells you that you can't do something, remember that a(n alleged) child sex trafficker can become AG. If that can happen, anything can.

Doesn’t he have an open house ethics complaint against him. I don’t recall the most recent ethics investigation was closed but i may have missed it.

And didn’t he feel compelled to ask trump for a blanket pardon as trump was leaving office?

Tend to agree. My gut says this might one of the “sacrificial lambs” that they let go down in flames and then tell the base “I tried” and put someone else out there. Particularly since Trump told the House Republican Caucus this morning that he was done taking people from their ranks.

If not, at least take solace in the fact that Matt Gaetz probably has no desire to actually do most of the responsibilities of the attorney general, so it’s really just making the deputy AG picks that much more important.

Going after the sex offender vote is certainly a bold strategy.

First step in increasing government efficiency. You can eliminate a whole bunch of layers of DOJ bureaucracy by having Matt Gaetz investigate himself. ;)

The glass isn't 99.99% empty, it's .01% full. Yeah, that works.

It's hard to fathom that anyone who is actually trained in the law isn't offended by this selection on multiple levels for multiple reasons.

They don't need to do stuff like this to keep the base happy. The base will be happy with Trump no matter what. This was done as a big FU to the rest of the country and to Trump's perceived enemies. The lawfare is coming for real this time.

I don't think voters care too much, but there are factions in the actual government with 'establishment' figures and the "let Trump be Trump" people who don't care about anything who hate each other. Just look at the house leadership thing, these people love infighting and showing they can flex if they want.

I think he just wants yes men who will carry his water in the media. Having unqualified folks just means less knowledge to challenge stuff.

Certainly we will see if there any country of party folks vs Maga first.
