Millen looked really good in the spring game imo..he was certainly healthy. I'm sure he came in being told he would compete with lagway to back up Mertz....and even after a solid spring saw the writing on the wall re DJ almost immediately into fall camp. My total guess is he wants to save the year and play somewhere next year. And yes, I know he burned his redshirt already. But I also know the ncaa gives out 6th years like candy
People acting like if Texas lost both Quinn Ewers AND Arch Manning they would be just humming along. Without Google I bet no one even knows who Texas 3rd string QB is. It's Trey Owens, a true freshman low 4 star recruit from Texas. A total unknown, not highly recruited, had 11 total offers which included powerhouses like: Tulsa UTSA Connecticut SMU Houston Rice Baylor Stephen F Austin Wazzou Texas tech. All home state Texas schools except for 3 of them. But posters acting like we should be humming along with our 3rd/former 4th string QB who wasnt even here for spring ball.
The issue is with Millen. Interesting speculation about him saving himself for another year somewhere. Don't know if true but his time at CSU doesn't support him being passed by Warner. He should have been a functional 3rd qb but he's nowhere to be found.
I honestly can't watch those things but from message board banter it sure doesn't seem like it is being talked about enough at all.
Yes. Edgar asked if he considered kicking the tires with Mullen in the Texas game and Napier said no. He said you can only get so many people ready to play and it wasn’t Millen.
Try to Keep up, the conversation is about our 3rd and 4th string back up QB's. Some asking why we don't have more ready to play 3rd or 4th string QB's. But when you go through your 1st 2 QB's it gets a bit murky, and not just for us. I used the team that just waxed us as a great example. If they were to lose their 1st and 2nd string QB's (Ewers and Manning) then they too would have to rely on their 3rd string QB. And I am willing to bet a majority of people didn't know who is Texas' 3rd stringer without the help of Google. Well lo and behold he is a true freshman named Trey Owens that hails from the state of Texas and had a total of 11 offers, 8 of them texas schools and Baylor, wazzou and and texas tech were the biggest schools that offered outside of Texas. Other powerhouse schools to offer were UTSA , Tulsa, SMU, UConn, Rice, Houston and Stephen F. Austin. So back to the point of the post that you missed, if Texas was in our position having to depend on their 3rd string QB , let alone if they were also missing their top 2 WR's RB's and a plethora of DB'S they would have some struggles trying to move the ball on offense. That sir is what my post has to do with the OP and all of the associated convos in this thread. Oh and for more clarity Austin Simmons is a back up QB. So the whole thread started talking about back up QB's. I'm glad I can clear that up for you.
Yeah it feels like there's got to be more to that story otherwise I don't see why we wouldn't have gotten a look at him while getting thrashed last weekend.
His excuse in the interview was that neither had any meaningful reps all year and everything went into getting Warner ready. That may have been true but how long has Millen been taking second team snaps now? Id also guess there's something we dont know. Warner has struggled.
Yeah it's kinda a D*!@ move grabbing a post at random and saying " what the hell does this matter at all to the OP" with out context of who i was replying to in the thread. And that's what that guy did, then got in his feelings after I kindly explained it to him Imagine that, me posting about backup QB's in a thread about a backup QB. Go figure, lol
