I don't see that as a best scenario. How about we get someone who knows how to evaluate personnel quickly, has lots of experience, knows how to turn things around quickly, exudes authority, and has great offenses and defenses? Otherwise we are just hoping that little slivers of what we might think is improvement turns out to be fools gold. Our schedule will be harder next year. We might as well use that to blood a new coach.
That's all we have to go by, but i hate to write off more years. We may need a coach like Heupel is to UTk for a few years to stabilize things until we can go big fishing for coaches.

Zook didnt have it. By the end it was obvious. Napier does not have it either. This far in we should have seen something. In almost three years he has never won a game he wasnt supposed to win.
Zook's overall record against rivals Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, and Miami was 4-7. Ahh.. the good ole days.
I agree, but I suggest you look at the hard reality of 24. 5-7 AT BEST. (I will have to be "shown" a win against LSU or Ole Miss). I already have those as ass kickins in my book. 2024 - "the best team" in my tenure here (CBN). The excuses, they are a plenty. Some I even agree with, especially the injury bug, but thats why recruiting and the transfer portal are important for "depth". Something that UF seems way behind the SEC in, this 24 season. If the AD survives and Billy stays for 25, most will "buy in" to (more experience, maturity, a couple of new position coaches, etc), in the off season. So will I but in much more muted fashion. The schedule is still very tough. Recruiting is 50th right now. Billys transfer portal selections have not positioned UF anywhere close to bringing the team out of the bottom 1/4 of the SEC in his tenure. The great hope is DJL, and the word is, several of our hated rivals are ready to park the Brinks truck in front of his parents house. UF has not prospered, has not adapted, nor has competed in this new "ERA" of College football. Sure the 12 team playoff brings excitment to the game, but other than that, I hate every aspect of all these changes, especially UF sitting on the toilet in the SEC.
Your feelings are almost a mirror image of my own, but I still think there is a good chance we beat LSU and if we do it may change the way I feel about our program’s direction. I said “may”. I really don’t know how much difference beating them will make in the way I personally feel about CBN’s ability to make us relevant again. I was at a very low place after Miami & Texas A&M games, but we got better and I felt like we were about to turn things around. The Texas game took the air out of my tires again. Like you, any hope/confidence I have going forward is going to be guarded. I’m going to say this even though I don’t like the thought of being pessimistic or abandoning my support for CBN. Since I was a pre teenager I believe I have listened to, watched or attended every Gator football game in a span from roughly 1955 until now. Planned weddings, work schedules, family outings, etc around Gator football. Only exception was the 2 football seasons I spent in the Army. Last week I was tempted, this week I’m feeling same temptation, to go fishing or take a trip to the mountains and just check the score of the game after I’m sure it’s had time to conclude. Never ever felt that way before.
I'm with you 2Old. We are in the same place, Of COURSE I want the Gators to beat LSU and Ole Miss, but "wanting" is not the same thing as DOING, and UF has failed time and again the last 4 seasons, especially at home against decent teams. LSU is decent, and Ole Miss looks like they are a legit contender now after plastering UGA. I'm afraid I have seen too many ass kickings the last 4 years to have much hope against anybody but the currently 1 - 9 Seminoles. If UF plays the Bayou Bengals or Ole Miss without DJL our chances go from 33% to 3% and IMO DJL ain't playing.
Maybe at some point, our schedule will lighten up. Hey, did everyone see that LSU lost AT HOME!, AT NIGHT! BY FOUR TOUCHDOWNS! to Alabama? No one is saying anything about this.
