Isn’t it about time that we stopped referring to FSU as a school???

Some of the changes were not as impactful as actual change IMO.

Promoting Calloway to OC? Minimal to no change as it is still Napiers playbook with Napier likely calling plays or dominating strategy.

we have changed DC 2-3 times but it is the same scheme that hasn’t worked for most of 3 seasons

we added a special teams analyst while still retaining the analyst from the prior seasons debacles

we changed strength and conditioning coaches but the prior coach in charge of the debacle is still on staff as head motivator or some such.

the only two coaches that were actually terminated - or known to be terminated - were Chaos and Raymond - just happen to also both be coaches with no prior ties to Napiers other staffs. (Toney and Peagler supposedly took other jobs but were not “fired” thus the delayed departure into February which hurt the search for replacements). Every coach that was a long term associate of Napier - never fired- either they are still on staff in some capacity or we’re allowed to find other jobs before termination (if they would have been terminated at all). That hurt UFs chances at hiring replacements as these coaches moved on well after the season and all other coaches were hired across the country. Thus, putting friends above the program.

When one OL coach took an NFL job Napier had an opportunity to move away from his two OL coach system, the only FBS program with that set up. He instead doubled down.

In a nut shell, regardless of all the “changes” and replacements, nothing has really changed except for the new DB and DL coaching. We run the same offensive scheme with 3 OC instead of two. We run the same defensive scheme with same/different DCs. We have the same structure (off field special teams analyst, two OL coaches, etc).

the more things change the more they stay the same. And results on the field (wins and losses) pretty much mirror that.

Napier has never gone outside of his sphere to make meaningful and impactful changes. I think he really needs to break his habits and get out of his comfort zone with a true different philosophy on offense and maybe even defense amongst other changes to his process.

Opened fine for me. Wow, Randy Shannon taking over as DC. That guy gets around.

And, they have only once scored 21 points this season. So, all we need is to manage 22 points, right?

Gonna be a tall order with our genius play-caller still in charge.

If DJ was warming up with the team for UT, I'm sure he'll be back by FSU. Not a chance we don't put up 22+ against FSU unless there are more injury issues.

Hammy issues are difficult to get healed up without significant rest. If they rush him back, I can see him re-injuring it. Even if he doesn't, they are going to keep him in the pocket which will take away a threat in his game. It'll be interesting to me to see how he does when his scrambling ability is limited.

I would hope our young pup 3rd stringer can put up more than 17 against that ragtag FSU defense, but there aren't any guarantees.

There's a mass rebellion going on by websites against ad blockers. Seems like half the sites I go to now (like the one you reference) won't let me view it unless I unblock ads. I don't even know what my ad blocker is. I tried briefly to find it, and said to hell with it.

To be honest, that's the most points fsu has scored this year. Most of their offensive scores are in the teens this year. If DJ is back by then, we should take this one, even in Tallacrappy.

The buyout for the coaches fired by FSU is about equal to Billy's buyout. They are really hurting for money now, and if they fire Norvell too- his buyout is in Jimbo $ neighborhood.

No, but he never fired a coach until now. Dugans was known as a poor coach throughout.

You have to admit it is a bit of chaos when CBN let's a good strength coach leave to bring his own guy who flames out and eats a paycheck for a year (on that so well earned extension) with no discernable assignment, then proceeding to hire a pro who bolts to a lesser team within 2 months, leaving you with an assistant who goes heavy Olympic lifting and your team is surprisingly filled with injuries, just like the last time we had a strength coach go heavy lifting.

He brought "his" strength guy, as every coach does. He made a change when it was needed....hired a great guy who unfortunately had ties to Obrien and and Boston. That was simply bad luck.
And no, that doesn't meet the definition of chaos.

It might have been bad luck, but it is what happens to those that don't have the gravitas to draw and keep quality coaches.

All of that saga (particularly keeping his strength coach) is the lack of self awareness that had led to being unprepared for key games and knowing whether his processes are working and thinking what works at low level ball carries over to the SEC.

It's mystifying how he can make some good identification of recruits that others miss but can't put the pieces together on the field.
