Religious people? I'm pretty sure most of them are happy.

no, not "religious" people. People that value honesty, integrity, respect for others. Two separate groups with some overlap but totally separate.

they gave him the boot because he was losing his mental acuity. same thing the pubs should ahve done with the senile old man about to be inaugurated.

Biden didn't do much on the economy but he did pick some smart people and let them do their job. djt will surround himself with unqualified sycophants like RFK and Gym Jordan. No real qualified people will want to be anywhere near that circus

imo Harris is just not a strong candidate. In the 2020 Democratic primary, she briefly peaked at 17% support, among Democrats. Throughout the primary her polling was generally in the single digits before she dropped out. At the start of 2024, her approval rating was underwater by at least 15 points. That’s bad for a VP.

She might have made a great president, but I don’t think she would have won if she had been the candidate ten months ago.

What happened during the coup was that Biden was told the he was not running again. He then screwed Obama by immediately endorsing Kamala. The dims wanted someone different but he forced their hand. He knew she was an idiot. She never received 1 vote prior to her appointment as the dim candidate. Biden knew it. That is why he screwed her every chance he could. Do you think that the Trumpers are “garbage” comment was not planned at the exact same time as her big capstone event. It was the end of the Democratic Party as we know it. This was all planned by Joe Biden. Didn’t you see how happy he was at his speech after she lost. That was the best he has looked in 4 years. He was happy to stick the knife in.

Harris could have but miscalculated how well she would do as well as how much people didn’t hate Trump.
    She wasn’t very self aware.
But then again many have tried to say she was the most qualified POtUS candidate “ever”, I guess she believed it.

Sorry I don’t think Biden is sharp enough to do that now.

Meh. Biden put the democratic party in an absolute bind. He was carrying the baggage of inflation into the debates and shit the bed with his performance. There were no good options at that point for someone to carry the party forward. Maybe a safer bet was out their other than the sitting vice president but I dont think the Biden administration ever owned up to the reality that those in the middle blamed the sitting president for inflation even though thats bonkers.

Word coming from the Pod Save bros is that Biden’s internal polling had him had him losing 400+ EV’s to Trump. Word is that Shapiro removed himself from consideration after seeing that.

Now that is the word of the Obama staffers that hate the Biden staffers, so I take it with a mound of salt.

Was a heavy climb out of that hole for sure although that all sounds made up. Ony VA could have swung to Trump that didnt. Doesnt get you to 400. And Shapiro wasnt enough of a name to make a difference in my opinon... maybe his delivery could have but he's set up for 2028 if that is the case. The swing voters will throw out the incumbents again I suspect.

When finding fault, you could go back to Biden, who was already showing significant signs of mental decline, picking the unpopular Harris as VP being a problem.

For Trump to get to 400, Biden would have only won CA, OR, WA, IL, DE, CT, MA, RI, and Vermont. That means NY would have had to flip, along with MD and a bunch of others. Possible but does not sound all that realistic.

While the Constitution considered a wide array of scenarios where power could become abusive, it was made for an 18th century context with 18th century technological considerations. They could not see the future, but they knew the Constitution would need to be amended to deal with new threats. That is why it is a document that can be amended.

They were right to consider the free press as a check and balance on government, but one thing I am not sure they foresaw was the rise of the MSM as it currently operates. The events of the past couple of years have shown that society needs non-governmental mechanisms to serve as a check and balance on MSM propaganda. I think while there are complaints about misinformation on social media, it is important for our society to have channels that allow for a fair competition between opposing narratives and contradicting information. I hope the Republicans carefully consider doing something to protect alternative channels of information because you can clearly see Democrats pining to gain control of information flows that don’t parrot their propaganda. We have Elon Musk largely to thank for one of those alternative sources of information, but Musk is far outnumbered by more uber-wealthy progressives who do not want open information flow in modern society.

The MSM was sent packing last Tuesday. The people clearly do not trust it. The jig is up. MSM, you’re fired!

This is an amazing thread. Biden has somehow managed to give everybody one reason or another to dislike him.

I hadn't heard that before about the granddaughter. I'm not doubting you, just amazing that she would get married and move into the WH. Is that Beau's daughter? IF so, I can somewhat understand the President wanting a connection close to him.

His wife is and as someone whose father married a younger woman after my mom died, I saw how older men can easily be manipulated by the younger women.
