This just shows the we fans/posters can hold whatever opinions we want, but have nothing to do with what actually happens. We can rant, applaud, fight with each other, congratulte the ones who agree with us, be accommodating to each other or tear down each other. But, in the scheme of things what we say or think means nothing. Those in power are going to do what they're going to do for whatever reasons they choose and we can like it or not. We can think we know what's best and what "they" should do, but we're simply fans who like to share our opinions on forums. And I'm fine with that. Not getting worked up about it any more - I hope. Go Gators!!
So I'm no insider but I have heard a few things and noticed a few things through the years... And one of those things is that ALL UF admin hates hates hates to look bad. From Spurrier calling out Bowden (and not getting any backup) to the Swindle to Zook taking on the frat house and getting canned a few weeks later- our Admin doesn't like to make a stir. The Meyer years didn't help- with the inmates running the asylum look we had. Then after the credit card scandal- Mac was gone within about 2 months. Mullen's athletes weren't bad- but he kept embarrassing the school. "Packing the swamp" during covid or seeming wanting to fight the Mizzou team at halftime in 20. Again notice how unhappy he got right after that- and how he tried to bolt for the NFL after that season. All that is to say that I bet UF admin can live with Napier's team of solid citizens and no drama. I honestly wonder if they are even unhappy right now.
I think part of the challenge is with this team, which has improved, but needs more improvement to be championship-level, every little mistake matters. With a team like GA, Smart can make mistakes, but it doesn't matter. If we continue to improve, we can win despite the mistakes.
Doesn't matter if I thought they'd take Tennessee to OT. Billy coached them out of a victory. We were better than Tennessee except for the head coach's play calling which cost us the win.
It should be negative. Our AD is arguably incompetent, regardless of money raised. Money and support would happen under any half decent AD. Billy Napier is not arguably a loser, he's definitely a loser. Negativity follows. Lets hope he wins enough to quiet those of us that see it for what it is. He will eventually be let go and hopefully a good HC follows him.
Probably but who on our team would command a better NIL deal? If not, why leave? I might bolt for a team and staff that made some promises and of whom I believe could get me more ready for the draft.
It's called hyperbole, because in the third season it shouldn't have take until the fourth game of the third season for us to see them playing like they wanted to be on the football field.
Napier has a boys club mentality. You see the guy on the sideline watching our team get ripped and he does nothing, says nothing, smirks. I cannot wait for us to have a coach that commands respect.
I suppose you've run a poll to determine this. I've been going to games since 1961 and know a lot of Gators and few are supporting Napier being retained.
Did you ever play little league or HS sports on a not so good team? How badly did you want to win? I was never on a team that won the league (hmmm...wonder what the common denominator was ) but wanted my team to win a championship so bad it was almost an ache. I bet a lot of these players still feel that way despite getting paid. Sadly, I'm expecting a tidal wave of transfers after this season is over.
