So... After the last few games, especially the Georgia game. I may be softening my stance on Billy. We were definitely show signs of turning this thing around. Yes i'm a homer but i believe we win sat if lagway doesn't get hurt. Defense has been playing much better and we have a bunch of young talent. Still need special teams to step up.. Don't think it's fair to make any assessments the rest of the season with a 3rd string QB. Thoughts??
When some of this young talent leaves via the portal and he has to replace them with players from the 50+ rated recruiting class along with who knows from the portal, what are your thoughts?. He shouldn’t have to be 30 plus games into his tenure to be showing improvement. He got a bad deal with losing his QBs, but it’s also on him for having a walk-on redshirt freshman as his third QB.
“Showing signs” midway through year three is an insanely low bar. I’m not saying he should have a year-one run like Cignetti, but it’s unfathomable to me that anyone would have such low standards for the UF program.
The issue is with keeping him…..whats the expectations for next season then? To win 8 games? This schedule will STILL be tough no matter who the coach is next season.
Keep in mind we are essentially playing the same tough schedule next year. That should weigh heavy on how we feel.
It will still be tough because it's virtually the same schedule, just trading UCF for USF and swapping all the locations. Sixteen teams in the conference and we play the same eight next year. Ridiculous scheduling.
I can see us having a very good team next year. Do we want to start over with a new coach and hope for the best?
That makes a lot of assumptions. 1. All existing contributors stay-you know other teams are in their ear through back channels-DJ being #1 2. He is a dead man walking on the recruiting trail and could end up dead last in the SEC-that has to improve because HS recruiting is still the foundation 3. Portal-Can he pull enough talent to plug holes-depth at certain positions is still a concern-is the NIL there for it? 4. He does not have a legit QB behind DJ
and it would be the same recruiting and dead man walking situation next season too. Say we start out 0-1 against Miami, then what lol
I was a supporter , then wanted him fired after mismi. Then reaffirmed after A&M. Now im just confused.
Somebody will have to release the bags. He cant recruit with no money. Im pretty sure thats got everything on hold.
Are we allowed to make assessments based on his first 2.5 seasons? Is this your evidence for BN earning his 4th year? (Would not be surprised if he gets a 4th year, but I think he hasn't earned a 4th year)
If that happens, and it's a legitimate possibility with ESD less than four weeks away, when is the last time we've finished so low in recruiting? Certainly nothing like this in my memory.
