Can someone explain the title. I get this thread but this title makes zero sense.

He had UGA on the mat with the same group of players and coaches that he had at the beginning of the year but after the Miami game there were people on here who were concerned we wouldn’t win a single game this year because they simply weren’t ready to go. In a way their near-successes makes what we saw at the beginning of the year inexcusable.

The beginning of the year was inexcusable no matter what. Can't put that product on the field in year three. Really unfortunate that when it looked like he might've figured something out half the team got injured.

This asshole writer can’t declare anything is over. It’s not over yet. Billy takes what’s left of this team and wins 3 of the next 4 to finish 7-5, he ought to freaking win coach of the year. This guy doesn’t know shit right now.

And I freaking despise USA Today

Okay, here is my take. Tilly wants to change the title either every week or when something "big" happens. Nothing big happened and so he decided to claim things are less hot after Stoops' (that is plainly called a "pun") team lost to us. BUT since they then lost bad to a bad Auburn team, he thought it best to claim we are pumping the brakes instead of going full steam on the Napier train.

And so, he used a second pun: we need to curb our enthusiasm. Or should I say, Kirb(y) our enthusiasm.

    Did this help?

Still in disbelief we were not even competitive with Miami. No improvement against tamu was a shocker.

Probably still should have won yesterday by putting it all on Oline, RBs and defense at halftime, starting the 3rd quarter with desperate purpose, smelling blood. Instead we stumbled out as if napping as usual.

This isn’t the result of NIL, it's the result of a wide open portal.

Probably not. The problem isn't lack of a 3rd string QB who can win games in the SEC, it's being 15-17 overall, 1-9 vs rivals, and 2-13 or whatever it was vs ranked teams with his 1st and 2nd string QB's.

I don't blame Billy for losing with his 3rd string QB and this loss was by far the least upsetting, in fact I felt pretty darn good after this game for the way they competed. It's simply a matter of accepting reality that pandora's box has been opened as far as him getting fired and the lid ain't getting closed which will seriously hinder the program for as long as he is charge of it.

Nick Saban once pulled his starting QB in the championship game. I'm going to guess their 3rd string was pretty dang good too. In the SEC, you have to have quality depth at QB. So much rides on a competent QB. You can't take chances.

I believe Ohio State will tell him that very shortly. It's different when you play a real team.

He went from undefeated to damn near zero wins in 9 games. He has lost 9 of the last 10 games. Jaden Baugh has as many rush touchdowns in a single game(5) as the entire FSU has all season combined (5)

Lagway has nearly.as many passing yards as the entire FSU team does combined and DJ did it in 7.5 games with 2.5 starts and rotation duty.

HOW does that happen? H3s been there 6/7 years and went undefeated last season.

Well, since we are talking about Mike Norvell, people here are quick to make the point that the only reason he won for two years was that he had a stud QB to paper over his coaching deficiencies………

What about Napier and DJ Lagway? Napier is suddenly having all this near-success, looking good against quality teams and it coincides with the ascension of DJ Lagway. Seeing the entire team react to his injury it seems as though Lagway had become the de facto leader of this team.

How much did Rashada ultimately get in NIL. Not including the campus e-bike ads for ASU. That dude is the ultimate wh*re.

Some perspective from my point of view:

Over the past 6 months, I’ve read multiple posts suggesting we were too quick to fire Muschamp, Mullen, and even Mac. Maybe they should have had a little more time to work out the problems - even though all 3 of those guys were in a state of decline at the point when they were fired. Muschamp had 4 years, so did Mullen, and Mac had 3 - and not a one of them was showing signs of improvement at the end of their run.

Contrast that with Billy. Everybody is screaming for his head at the 2-1/2 years point. We’ve had clear evidence that he is in fact starting to turn this program around - on defense, offense, special teams, even play calling. But nobody cares - they just want him gone. The same people who have looked back and considered we were too quick to fire our last 3 coaches - want to do it again. Even though Billy, unlike the other 3, is in fact improving. There is zero question whether or not our team going into Jacksonville was better than what Billy inherited 2-1/2 years ago. But doesn’t matter, we sucked 2 months ago so let’s go on and fire him.

Does anybody besides me see the error in this logic?
