Warner did not look ready and I don’t expect a redshirt freshman walkon to be. Surely we have someone who is serviceable as a game manager at this point as I don’t think we go wing-t.
well the CSU dude was brought in to be the 3rd string and was beaten out by Warner so that’s even more cause for concern. Here’s the issue…..there’s no reason we should have only one HS recruited QB on the roster in year 3
Not sure if true or not, but I did see that the CSU dude wanted to redshirt and with 4 games left, he could still play and keep his redshirt. Who knows.

I know the FSU commit Tramell Jones not budging (foolishly btw) and we almost had em over the summer but there is no motion with a 2025 QB. Insane that we’re gonna be in the same situation next season at QB again, like we said, people don’t follow recruiting and then get mad when we’re scraping the bottom of the depth chart during the season wondering “who is he and why is he out there?” but don’t understand we WHIFFED recruiting at that position
Simmons would’ve been the perfect backup. It was a money issue there as Ole Miss offered more. We cooled off on Stokes as his senior season went on and used the opportunity to back off the offer. Max Brown was a reach and always a project and Kitna situation was what it was.
Kerwin Bell was a walk-on and 8th string QB on the practice squad before redshirting as a freshman in '83. Before the magnificent '84 season began, he had worked his way up to 5th string. Then, dominoes fell and he became the starting QB for the first game. Storybook endings happen albeit they are extremely rare.

I think he played a couple snaps against MTSU. I was at that game and I remember Spurrier was mad that Rex missed a pass and ran the same play with Brock next. Left an imprint in my memory.
If you read my post I stated I didn't understand why you place your only real viable qb at risk running the ball. He got hurt on a running play and yes I know it was a freak accident. If you took time to read my post you would know that playing qb without running has its risk as well. Point is, why take chances when you have no other real option in your third stringer. We saw how bad the third stringer is. DJ was doing fine handing it off to our rbs and is always the threat to hit the long ball. The risk of running didn't pay off. I have little confidence in our 3rd stringer like most on here. It's just an opinion which is why these forums exist. I get it you disagree and that's fine but no need for sarcasm. Not interested in a pissing match with you.

And Jesse was third string behind Doug and Noah in 1997. Spurrier said he initially considered a three way rotation against fsu before settling on swapping Doug and Noah throughout the game.
