Trump and his MAGAs are the RINOs. They have no resemblance whatsoever to traditional Republicans. Cheney fits the mold of traditional Republicans.
Trump may have been speaking metaphorically and his point may very well have been an attack on Liz Cheney based on her alleged propensity to commit American troops to foreign wars. That being said his statement with respect to Cheney still has to be considered in the context of some of the defeated former president's other comments such as this one: Trump Floats the Idea of Executing Joint Chiefs Chairman Milley or this one: Donald Trump Suggests ‘Second Amendment People’ Could Act Against Hillary Clinton Or even this: Trump calls Schiff and Pelosi ‘enemy from within’ even after allies defend past comments
While his post from July is not new, it's very relevant IMO. He has accused Liz Cheney of treason and suggested she be tried by military tribunal. It's a well-known fact - and I think he's noted himself - that acts of treason are punishable by death. Yes, the context of his recent statement calling her a war hawk who did not serve should be provided. Also, the headlines on the recent statements are misleading. However, taken as a whole rather than in isolation, it's very difficult for me to fathom he did not appreciate the reaction he was going to get on this given his prior statements about her.
