Figured I'd start a thread with my own great state of NC. Among the many problems with our totally unnecessary amendment is: if read super technically, no one but 18 year olds will be allowed to vote.

    It reads:

Constitutional amendment to provide that only a citizen of the United States who is 18 years of age and otherwise possessing the qualifications for voting shall be entitled to vote at any election in this state

Looks like that’s a legislatively proposed amendment?

If so, the cynic in me says it’s probably one that exists only (or primarily) to drive voter turnout. Legislatively proposed amendments (particularly those relating to controversial subjects) frequently are.

I would yes on this just to see if Taylor Swift wins every future election by write in. It would be awesome because the only way to undo it would be for 18 years to vote to repeal it.

It is, the vague language about "otherwise possessing the qualifications for voting" is also odd to me

I think there are 8 states that have similar amendments this year. Oklahoma is one of them as well.

This is what's puzzling to me. If a state has a super majority in their state House and Senate, then why even put a controversial Amendment proposal on the presidential election ballot in the first place?
