Sure, I'll take the better odds with you. $100 bet. I think Trump wins.

I want to see some avatar bets, being exiled from this place is a win, not a loss lol. Having to post on this website with a "I love Billy Napier and I want to kiss and hug him" or "Stricklin 4 Life" avatar would be a real punishment

You want to set your parameters and ignore others. It speaks for itself.

Already bet on it and I'm willing to bet you if I like your odds. Who cares what you believe or don't believe

My offer. I'll bet you $2000 on Trump getting the sweep at 5:1 odds. I'll FedEx the cash to rivergator, tilly, Oklahomagator. Lacuna, or AzCatFan. They keep $1000 of the $10,000 I predict I'll win for their trouble.

I know Trump is leading in all 3 states but there's a good chance those leads are not outside the margin of fraud

this could be, quite literally, the dumbest thing I've ever read. You would bet if I could eliminate mail in voting and you are criticizing me because I can't eliminate mail in voting? Just FYI I appreciate your outsized assessment of my importance but I don't get to decide who allows mail in voting and who doesn't

done. Since you are one of the rare people who didn't come in here and equivocate or make excuses I completely trust you if you don't want to escrow the money with somebody, but I'm also happy to do that if you want to. PM me so that I can keep track of these more easily

I am not betting for either side when you have mail in voting “for no reason”. You have shown you understand this as well. It is why you would not make your bet if mail in voting “for no reason” was eliminated.

Its not for no reason, my reason is that I'm too damn lazy to go to the voting place and I hate lines for anything

I would make the bet if mail in voting didn't exist but since it does he just have to kind of deal with it, don't we?

That is “for no reason”. Being lazy is not a reason to vote by mail. It is allowed now. But should not be…

Thank you to @sflagator as this is the early leading contender for most entertaining thread of the 2024 election cycle.

I've suspected for quite a while that election polling in 2024 is near impossible. It's mainly due to how people are contacted and our general behavior re: being contacted on our handheld devices. Yes, even Pew Research will preach about how hard legit pollsters work to build accuracy into their models but I don't think it generally passes the logic test. I think the recent article that I think someone else posted on this site stated it better than I could:

    The Truth About Polling

Also, I found a recent column by David Brooks insightful re: the takeover by the left/right extremes in what he calls the ruling "priesthood".

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/17/opinion/harris-trump-close-race.html

"When parties were primarily political organizations, they were led by elected officials and party bosses. Now that parties are more like quasi-religions, power lies with priesthood — the dispersed array of media figures, podcast hosts and activists who run the conversation, define party orthodoxy and determine the boundaries of acceptable belief."

"The result is that each party has its own metaphysics. Each party is no longer just a political organism; it is a political-cultural-religious-class entity that organizes the social, moral and psychological lives of its believers."

I wonder if in my lifetime (I'm in my mid 50's) if we'll ever see a time where decency supersedes policy and the loonies that used to be mocked are booted off the train? Right now the loonies are apparently the conductors and since a majority of folks are so mindlessly loyal to what ever the elephant or donkey tell them to think, we will continue to go off the rails. All self-inflicted.

We do. Which is why I would not bet with it being allowed.

They have polls open midnight to midnight and absentee voting for those who can prove they are not able to vote in person. All day I would take you up on this bet…
