Because softball is definitely not baseball. Case in point last season when Keagan was a weekend warrior.
Not at all. I posted the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starters in my view only. I should have said Liv and Kara would be midweek starters and relief on the weekend.
I cannot disagree with that, but I thought that is what we were trying to avoid. We should not overload Kea like last year and have a balanced rotation. This is ideal and may not work out every game, but it is something to strive for. See the above post about Liv and Kara.
I like the idea of using them all in one game, rather than each having their own game. If one is hot, let her ride, but for the most part plan to switch things up every couple innings so hitters never get comfortable. In softball you can bring them back if you end up in extra innings. They can pitch multiple days in a row with no issues. Use em all, all the time. Of course they need to be effective for that to work, but that’s true if you plan to put them on a baseball like rotation too. Good thing for us, we don’t have to figure it out. Just watch and see what happens.
Hey. Opinions are just that...everyone has them. Nothing wrong with that. I don't have a crystal ball. I would be nuts to opine that Ava won't be our second arm with Keagan. I just believe at this juncture that Keagan and Red will be 1 and 1B with Ava getting considerable work also. Who knows? But we are far better off, no matter the eventual order, than we were a year ago at this time. We have a staff and we had not much of a clue at this time last year what we had given youth and rehabbing from injuries.
With only three recruits coming in 2026 and Korbe, Reagan, Kara, Kendra and Rylee graduating. I don’t think we’re gonna have that many if any transfers out of the program. If the current group of stud Sophomores and Freshmen take this as a learning year, we will be able to maintain the same level of excellence. Going into 2026. I know that’s looking into the future. But the future of this team is so bright.
Hey Rick, if you have Instagram check out the Gators softball Instagram. Lots of videos and info nuggets.
Yep. Been there daily and done that. I, however, wouldn't use the word "lots". Forgive me if I don't remember something but from the JU and FSU game, we got one 10 second video of Jocey's bomb. Mostly the same stuff that is on our twitter page....photos, etc.
Did Really? Look harder. All kinds of cool videos. Did you see the softball team video from Walton’s lake house? It’s awesome. The live “hot takes” from Jocey, Ava, Layla, Korbe, Kendra, Townsend, Taylor all on Instagram.
Just viewed OK, Tex, Bama and Tenn Softball Websites. No Box Scores, but a lot of coverage of Fall Ball. UF-ZIP! Our coverage is like Vandy, HA-HA!
I like taylor in right and I kind of at this point trust CTW. You talk about mias defense but she had as many errors as skylar last year and she was an 18yr. Old freshman holding us down in the post season and I belive skylar was 23 or 24 yrs old. Check out the World Series in baseball right now, you need people to step up in post season and she has. Her diving play with 2 girls on against Baylor saves the day along with her 3 run bomb. How easily we forget. My husband and I attended all games this weekend and mia had 2 doubles against JU and 2 homeruns against FSU. i never saw the ss hit one ball . Pitching looked great from Red, Ava and Keagan and Reagan looked great at first. I trust Coach and a lot of people disagreed with his decisions and guess what they finished 3rd in the country with all those players contributing.
Get ahead big early in every game then everyone can rotate in and get playing time, problem solved lol! Honestly these are good problems to have. I know college sports have changed drastically in recent years but all these ladies knew the competition they were walking into and with the emphasis I believe CTW puts on character when recruiting I just don’t see a ton of players transferring out. If you want to be part of something special and win national championships sometimes you have to be a little patient imo.
I loved Taylor in right, it's a position we have put hitters in in the past and it's one we have put defensive players, she seems to have both. I'm not sure why you think mias defense is so bad when she had just as many errors as skylar wallace last year and mia was an 18yr old freshman and skylar maybe 23 or 24. Mias defense and her homerun were a HUGE contributing factor in the Baylor game. Not to mention she was great and came up clutch in the SEC tournament when a lot of our line up went cold. My husband and I went to all games this weekend and Red and Keagan looked great, the ss transfer never hit the ball, Ariel still looked stronger than the Alabama transfer at 3rd and hitting and Reagan looked very good at 1st. It's still early but the big hitters were definitely mia, korbie and Taylor. It's early but Fsu was the strongest team we will play all fall so it was a good game to gage off of. Red was a show stopper
Watch Coach Stephanie work wonders with this staff. She’s not Coach Rocha, but she has a résumé that nearly matches her.
Ikr? We had a long stretch of seasons in the past where that was exactly the case. I don’t see why it can’t be that way again. Sure makes preparation a lot harder on the opponents.
Errors alone don’t tell the whole story. Skylar got charged for errors on balls nobody else was making a play on. Mia is still getting ate up by grounders hit right in her bread basket. I’m rooting for her, but she’s definitely got some things to clean up and I have a feeling she would tell you so herself. A rangy ss will almost always lead a solid defensive team in errors, especially if 1st has a hard time picking em out of the dirt.
