It is part of the constitution and is outlined in the amendment. It would have to be changed. If it were to be challenged, it would have by now.

The state constitution would say that all laws that prohibit, delay, restrict, or penalize abortion for a minor before viability are unconstitutional including the parental consent laws that are currently on the books in the state of Florida.

If that is what you want to support, then own it and acknowledge it openly without deception or deceit.

Every woman on the Florida Supreme Court voted against this amendment being allowed to be put on the ballot before the voter.

Think about that, and let that sink in.

So are we going by the wording of the amendment or not? I forget the radicals in this state like to change and manipulate amendments after they are passed, so why not just secure your parental approval after it passes?

This law we have now counts from the date of your last period which could put a woman at 4 weeks. Are you kidding me?

I know, I have to tone down my deception and deceit on this board. I guess my reputation precedes me? o_O

Yes, the three Republican women appointed by DeSantis voted to deny Floridians the right to decide for themselves whether they support or oppose this amendment. That is why I'll be voting not to retain the two who are up for election.

All that matters is how the legal powers will interpret the wording. How you and I read the law does not matter, which is why judges get the choice to approve or disapprove an amendment before it goes before the voter. This amendment got judicial approval to get on the ballot by the narrowest margin possible: 4 to 3. All three women voted against it being put on the ballot. All four men voted for it to make its way onto the ballot.

FWIW, the judges that approve these amendments going before the voter are not necessarily voting like we do. They are determining if the amendment is fit to go before the voter. So, they could vote against it because the language is deceptive. They could vote against it because the wording is problematic, etc.

Interesting point you are making there.

7/3 is about 2.3...a birth ratio high enough for a nation to produce another generation of its own offspring. It is interesting that being slightly above the minimum replacement ratio is something noteworthy to consider.

I can assure the attorneys on this board have. DeSantis has appointed some really horrible FLSCt justices and I vote not to retain every damn one of them every opportunity I get.

It is the will of the people that should control on this proposed Amendment, not your misinterpretation of the Bible.

If the minor is mature enough to make that decision, parental consent should be irrelevant. That's essentially what the statute does now.

If they're mature enough for a judge to grant them that authority, sure.

I hope you realize minors under the age of 16 can't consent to sexual intercourse period and that 16-17 year olds can only consent to intercourse with males under the age of 24.

What is interesting is that if you look at the demographics, the people who actually give birth, women under 40, overwhelmingly support abortion rights but the people who don’t, especially older men, disproportionately want to make it illegal.

It’s going to be close. If it doesn’t pass women may have to book an overnighter to have their offspring disposed of.
