    1. Abortion ban past 16 weeks in exchange for outlawing death penalty across country
    2. Fine with all energy sources with regulation. A blanket ban makes no sense. Nuclear is fine for small scale reactors. Have to have regulations in place. In exchange right to look to some Teddy Roosevelt Republican conservatism and stop vilifying agencies that protect environment and humans.
    3. Physical walls + 21st century technolgy is fine, but needs to be effective and not just a symbol. Immigration is good for overall economy. Use e-verify for temporary workers. In exchange put jail time on American employers who hire without legal status or e-verify proof. Cannot bypass minimum wage standards with migrants.

I’m fine with all of them except the last two. Complete school choice would be nightmare, and penalize those who prioritized their children’s education by moving to good school neighborhoods. The last is just plain stupid. I’ll never understand the fascination with guns by a small minority.

She has hedged a lot on it. She just said in the CNN interview she is not going to get between a person and their doctor when it comes to medical choices. She was talking about trans issues but that would seem to carry over to abortion as well.

That would be a great campaign ad.

Trump said Mexico would pay for a wall. They didn't ... you did. And it hasn't stopped anyone.

Biden/Harris got Mexico to pay for effective border controls. And now border crossings are way down.

So you would willing to except #2, and be fine if Harris came out and made that her official position on her website? Any other position on that list you would be willing to accept?

The Drudge Report is plastered today with former underlings of trump saying he admires hitler, the Nazis did some good and that it will be the Jews fault if he looses. A better question is is there a thing trump could say or support that would keep you from voting for him.

So I take it, there is not one other policy listed that you would be willing to accept?

I am telling you that if I were in your shoes and had to vote at the president level someone who opposes my preferred policies but was not a troglodyte as my candidate is, I would do that. I would not vote up and down the ticket to support that trash list though. I can make a distinct choice since the President doesnt make any of those laws possible, congress does.

Again, this is about attracting center right, Haley type voters that are looking at not voting for POTUS in this election. What are you willing to offer to them to convince them to vote for Harris?

These are nice talking points which would ordinarily evoke a robust discussion.

But the premise of the thread is wrong, for me. There is virtually nothing she can say or do that would change my vote. “NeverTrump” is pretty self-explanatory.

Yeah, nothing else on your list.

Judges maybe, but as soon as she makes a list, it is just fodder for Pubs to attack her on. I expect she will pick qualified judges, unlike Trump who picked 3 rubber stamping losers.

Guns, eh. Not important to me, but she has already gone 90% of the way and said she is a gun owner who isn't coming after your guns. What more do you want?

Yes, now the puzzle is going together for you. She/they are not willing to compromise. She/they will tell you whatever it takes to get you into bed, but they will still be gone in the morning.

    Rubber stamped losers huh?

Are you and Jo in some competition for posting the most ignorant comment on Too Hot?? I think you just took the lead. Not many people are able to get a lead on Jo when it comes to ignorant nonsense.

We are voting for president. Not the entire makeup of congress. Vote whoever you want to that will advocate the lawmaking you want but dont vote a moronic crook for president. Its pretty easy and doesnt take compromising your entire platform.

For discussion’s sake, I think your points at 1, 2, 5 and 6 work for me as written.

I agree in part with most of the others. For example, I think a wall is a waste, and I don’t like absolutisms regarding never a path to citizenship (but absolutely agree that our existing asylum laws need a complete re-write). I certainly believe that there needs to be a budget for military spending, but I, not knowledgeable to know enough as to whether 2% is adequate.

I disagree regarding completely about your school funding. I think the education and pub,ic schooling if our children should be decided primarily at the State level, provided every child is afforded a fair and adequate opportunity to receive a quality education. I think there needs to be standards in schools, and I think there needs to be base standards. I don’t want us to go back to segregation-level of inequality.

Then why lay out policy positions if they do not fall under the authority of the Executive Branch? These are all policies that the POTUS would be advocating for as the leader of their party that likely controls at least one, if not both, chambers of Congress. They set the agenda for the party. The Democrats in Congress did not choose healthcare in ‘09 on their own. They did it because Obama told them to since that was his #1 priority.

The #2 abortion is completely reasonable, I would have no issue with that.

The #6 nuclear issue is something I don't have a problem with. However, it's worth noting that solar has become so much cheaper, it's probably a more economical solution, even at scale, than nuclear at this point.
