A new poll shows support for Amendment 4 is at 60%, just enough to pass in the Nov. 5 election.

“Since campaigning has picked up against the amendment, support for abortion protection has dropped from 69% of likely voters back in July,” University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab’s (PORL) faculty director and political science professor Michael Binder said in a prepared statement.

“Now, just barely reaching the 60% it needs to pass, it looks like the fate of abortion in Florida will come down to turnout on Election Day.”

40% of Republicans were in favor including some who identify as pro life

DuhSantis ads are lying about parental involvement. That doesn't change at all.

Pubs should be in favor of an abortion rights initiative. If it passes, they can go back to their abortion is murder stance.

Now they are on the defensive because it just became a top top concern in this election.

Parental consent laws become immediately unconstitutional if Amendment 4 passes because the amendment makes such laws that regulate or prohibit abortion unconstitutional.

Can a parent force a pregnant 14 year old to full term gestation by denying consent?

I’m hope Christians, Jews, and Muslims find some common ground here and put an end to this murderous practice.

You must be referring to the post-natal abortions Trump and MAGA are comically always ranting about. I'm fine with putting an end to those (because there was NEVER a beginning.)

I would be absolutely fascinated to know what percentage in opposition a) own a gun and/or b) are in favour of capital punishment.

That was literally the second thing I voted on after receiving my ballot after voting for Harris. My ballot was proudly hand delivered to the Supervisor of Election's office.

In the state of Florida right now yes. The way the amendment is written is deceptive because it says parental notification laws will not be overturned. Parental notification and parental consent are two different things, though. Legal parental consent laws, which are currently in effect in the state of Florida for a minor to get an abortion will become instantly unconstitutional if this passes. Minors will be able to get abortions in the state of Florida without parental consent if this bill passes.

The child can apply for a judicial waiver. The statute requires the petition to be ruled upon within 3 business days of filing. The child is only required to demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence she is "sufficiently mature" to make the decision to terminate her pregnancy. The child is entitled to appointed counsel.

That will be unconstitutional as well if amendment 4 passes because the amendment makes any law that delays an abortion unconstitutional as well. The amendment is very clear: government regulation of abortion is unconstitutional if this passes, including laws that could delay an abortion.

You almost make it sound like ridding this state of draconian restrictions on a woman's right to make her own medical decisions is a bad thing.

Wrong. Did you even read it?

No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature's constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.

Parental consent is not parental notification. That is an easy slam dunk argument for a lawyer in the courts to overturn any past legislation as unconstitutional that would prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion for a minor including parental consent laws for minors.
