These 3 schools are historically the doormat of their conferences.

    They are 18-3 this season.

Parity isnt the friend of the big boys.

I think I saw a quote from Kirby. Something along the lines of they can pay your twos more than you can.

Duke and Indiana have played pretty much nobody. Not sure either could match Florida record if they played the schedule Florida has played. That said I don't think Kiffin's Ole Miss team would have a better record than Florida either with the same schedule.

To some degree the ability of the coach to acquire players has become secondary to the development, scheme and playcalling of the coach. I don't think that is a bad thing. It has to be better than trying to out talent everybody.

The transfer portal and the expanded playoffs will bring more parity like this.

I note that two of them have academic standards at least equal to that of UF, and they are doing fine.

(I would toss in Texas, which academically and athleticly I consider the closest to UF among all NCAA schools)

    Major kudos for this post!!

Being a good academic school only helps, now that everyone can pay.

Never thought of it like that but it makes sense. Depth becoming an issue for the big boys that would horde all the talent.

Correct. Which is what they have done for decades.

Even better that Kirby admitted it.

Plus having that depth allows you to give starters breaks mid game and keep them fresh. You also get the gem from 2 deep that on occasion can supplant a poorly performing starter.

Haha No, but he is definitely showing that a coach can grow and learn. I dont care how bad FSU is, Duke was 0-22 vs them. He has done an amazing job.

FSU is horrible but they gave that game to Duke with 4 turnovers.

Vandy is 5-2 like Bama, won the head-to-head … and is ten spots behind in the polls.

Duke is the worst 6-1 team in the FBS. They have won on a weak schedule and luck. Vandy is this year's FSU. They hit the portal and came away with a few really good players. Indiana is my bright spot. They really have kicked it up several notches and they aren't phased by the loss of their star QB. Whoever is coaching up the QBs is a solid hire. I'll also add Army and Navy to this list. Could it be that one of them makes it into the CFP? The annual Army-Navy game might be pretty special this year.
