After seeing Georgia struggle against lesser teams in other years(Kentucky as well for that matter) but play exceedingly better against Florida, I put zero value to transitive properties. Hope Florida gives Kirby hell though.
Appreciate it. Last night will be my last time in the Swamp. If I’m reading tea leaves right I think Stoops will retire soon and this little run of some decent football will end for Kentucky. I never thought I’d live to see us win down here so that was a blessing. Appreciate the kind words from great people on this forum.
Valid points but not material because even if they were not true Billy is not hiring an OC. Hiring an OC would be Billy admitting where a large problem exists, and that problem is him. He is like that guy with no sense of rhythm who thinks he can play lead guitar. Be as smooth as you want but they are all clangers if the timing is off. It is doubly tragic. I truly fear that the admin is going to keep him, even if he goes 5-7. Always thought he was going to be our answer to Mark Richt, but now that looks to be a high ceiling. Only way he ever does manage anything better is if/when he hands off the offense to a good OC. IF the administration is set on keeping him in the face of so many losing seasons it is in their own interests to find the money to bring in an OC and give him a few years guaranteed. But, as I said, it ain't happening mostly because Billy.
I’m not sure. I saw something about that, but it might’ve just been someone’s comments in this thread. I believe Burton also had a passing touchdown to go with his five rushing, but I could be wrong on that. I was traveling somewhere and listened to that game on the radio. Made the trip go by faster.
Underrated aspect of the improvement defensively is that they get to play with the lead. Easier to be aggressive and confident when your offense is scoring points. Both sides are feeding off each other
Except for running out the clock at the end of the first half, I saw plenty of aggressiveness. Especially that third down at the end of the game to put an extra nail in the coffin.
Really??? Maybe the first 2 games, but like was mentioned before, we treated those first 2 games like they were scrimmages. No sense of urgency or intensity. We rotated players on a schedule, whether they performed well or not. That is Pee-wee football coaching where every player gets an opportunity to play. No feel for the game and going with the hot hand. We dominated UT and still lost due to coaching miscues and turnovers. We outplayed them in the first half and only had a 3 point lead. That is not a game we should have lost.
It isn’t the losing it is how we are losing…. All systems failure that is so disappointing. We have come as far as we can in the SEC in football. We are sliding down the hill and crashing at the bottom. Obviously we were never that high, but still we used to be competitive. Oh well it’s life.
As I reviewed the highlights, my impression was "Where in the hell did this team come from?". In the first six games we saw hints of what was to come. However we did not see anything like this. It has been a long time to see both the Gator Offense and Defense put up a performance like this. What I saw was a finely tuned machine that was running at maximum efficiency. This was not an error free game by the Gators. However, it was still a very impressive performance. I agree that DJ is better for this offense. His deep throws were extremely accurate. His running was excellent. He also knew when not to stretch/extend a play (got out of bounds or slid). His hands offs were well executed. He also did a great job in misdirecting the Kentucky Defense. Last night he showed everyone that he is not your average first year Freshman QB.
Seeing Tennessee knock off Bama made me even madder how we dominated the Vols and found creative ways to give the game away. I am still livid over the 4th down play calls in that game. What SOS said was perfect. We are just as good as Tennessee and with decent coaching I'm sure better. A friend said there is a talent gap and this is something I thought for a long time. Truth is we do not have a talent gap, we have a coaching gap. I am on board with all who think we need to go in a different direction with our coaching. Cats were flat last night and I'm not saying that to take anything away from our performance. We played inspired last night. That upsets me too knowing that isn't how we played in all our games. We were blowing the Cats off the ball. Kentucky looked like we did last year when we played them. Next 4 games are going to be brutal but I still think we can win at least 1. With that and what seems as though a likely win over struggling (HEHEHEHEHE) FSU that could mean a bowl. Go Gators!
We pretty much played only two safeties in the game without much substitutions, probably that’s the way to go until capable candidates emerge.
I did too based on the way they have played all year. Let’s hope they keep doing what they have been starting to do. Both on D and O.
In fairness he makes some good points. And until 2 weeks ago even the most stalwart BN supporters were counting the seconds until he was shown the door. I think if his buyout wasn’t so huge it would have happened actually.
I think he means if we had Etinne he would have been the good 1-2 when MJ went down. It really affected the offensive options (in BN head at the time).
Lag is a game changer you can see greatness and he's only a freshman. He HAS to stay at UF. The D since the bye week has been incredible. I think it started when BN had them go at it hard like they should have all along. I remember UM would call it bloody Tuesday, the team practiced hard and results followed. Seems like BN discovered something and hats off to him to try new things. Right now we look like a different team.
Wing speaks for a lot, no, the majority of us. Every fan base has a few jerks. It’s a shame most of them can make so much noise.
The last few weeks have confirmed my belief that we sorely needed a cupcake as our opener and then a half decent team 2nd like the old days. Some teams need to work on things and build confidence early in the season. Especially with a lot of new faces on the field and staff. We're building something now and hopefully cam pull a few more wins as not to blunt momentum.
