A former colleague of mine who was Vinny Testaverde's LT at UM said that Zo was the most difficult player to block that he encountered in his career.
80’s Gator football was so much fun. Coming off 0-10-1, watching Charley build, getting better and better. Chasing that elusive first SEC title and finally winning it at the Commonwealth. Will never forget seeing Adrian White, a guy I knew very well growing up in OP, make the game clinching INT. Florida had finally won the SEC. Those mid 80’s teams were really good. That was an incredible time to be a Florida Gator! Welcome Back, Gators: Florida's 1984 SEC Championship Team to Return for Kentucky Game - Florida Gators
There was a feeling then that we had finally gotten the monkey off our backs, and were going big time. It was exhilarating, and so much fun.
We weren't on tv much in those days anyway. I had a buddy with a tricked out van with captain's chairs and shag carpet, and our gang of five road tripped it! ha ha
85 was still fun until the UGA game. Watched all the home games and the one in Jax. Back then not all the games were on TV anyway.
I lived in California after UF during those years. The Gators were only on TV there once a year: either the Georgia game or the FSU game.
Years ago, I read that SOS would not let Hall come back to the school, because he felt Hall had brought disgrace on the university. That made me sad. As far as I could tell, Hall’s “transgressions” were for being a good human being.
That is probably the main reason why I never fully embraced The Ball Coach. Younger Gators who think we became a major power in 1990 make we want to SMDH...
If memory serves, there was a hot air balloon flying over that said something like; Trojans Break Under Pressure, or something like that. Great game tonight but time to get on the road. Hoping GPD has some officers managing traffic but not holding my breath.
