Interesting (to me) things: 5 of the Top 6 are SEC teams. Big Whatever seems much weaker than I had thought. Indiana is #14. the Holes are #67!
Couldn't let a ray of sunshine go unpunished, I see. Ok, so two things: - FPI accounts for opponent strength - Our two losses are to #10 and #12
And we still get to play #’s 1, 4, 5, 6, 15, and 25. That is an absolutely insane schedule. Even if we were the 16th best team in the country and win every game against the lesser ranked opposition, we still finish 5-7. If Napier can steal a game in this murders row that is 2024, I think he saves his job. Especially if we get road wins at UTk and F$U. I would still want to see SS make him hire an elite DC. No more excuses there.
I agree with what you're saying, but at this point Napier is viewed as a lame duck coach. No elite DC would come coach for him. If he makes it to next year, he's going to have to dance with the girls he brought... Armstrong and Roberts. We'd just have to hope that the defense regains their swagger. It was just UCF, but the defensive line appears to be getting a LOT better.
The amount of money required to buy him out reportedly has already been accounted for so funds are available to make that individual the highest paid DC in the country. An elite DC would come for a nice paycheck, especially with a decent buyout. Cash is always king.
I understand exactly what it accounts for and I know to whom we lost to, but I also have seen them play in person and on TV. We won, and I'm very glad we did, but I still didn't/haven't seen anything from them to make me believe anything has changed.
