If you want to bitch about coaching go to the football board. Mary is and will go down as one of the greatest Florida athletic coaches of all time.

Scrappygator and Porchegator are right. Now MW has the support she needs. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. It’s gonna be fun watching her put it all together in the coming months.

I will say Mary has almost always had her left side attackers 6 position players. I really don’t watch vb much anymore as 90% of my coaching was when the game was side out scoring which was the best version of the game but to some, was not as exciting as rally scoring. Big mistake imo. SOS(side out scoring) made a team play a complete match if they wanted to win but gave every underdog a fair chance for the W.

Gators led the entire first set, sometimes by as many as 6 points, but collapsed down the stretch with Texas finally getting the lead at 23-22 and beating UF 25-23. 6 service errors by the Gators kept them from putting the set away ealier and then a series of getting blocked and attack errors allowed the Longhorns to get back in the set and win it. Texas hit .241 for the set, Florida .188. Kennedy Martin hit -.125, A C Fitzpatrick hit .111 and Isobel Martin hit .167 and that's just good enough to beat quality teams.

Texas wins the 2nd set 25-18. The way they lost set #1 seems to have shaken their confidence. Too bad.

I’m watching gm 3 and after a time out leading 5-1 we serve out( always a no no after a TO), stay out of system, bad net play, but most telling of all is Stucky is no way back as she’s bump setting a lot with balls shed normally set to 3 options. She’s off movement wise. Serve receive sucks. Jmo.

    Swept.
Was hoping we could give them a better tussle. We have work to do.
Texas is the standard right now.

When Stuckey plays on the back row, Texas is going at her because she still favors that knee and reacts slowly. At least that's what it looks like to me. I feel terrible for this team because they have the talent to beat anyone in the country, but they simply aren't 100%, or even close to it, healthwise. They said Gabby Essix can't even practice, let alone play, right now. Kira Hutson missing her 2nd straight season and Madi Graves not being able to play all contributes to the team being very good, but not elite. Will they be better by tournament time? Who knows?

Texas is the standard in the SEC and 2-time defending national champs. But they have a lot of young players, have lost 3 matches and are only ranked #7 in the nation right now. Pitt is the unanimous #1, with Stanford, Nebraska, Penn St., Louisville and Creighton ranked ahead of the them.

Not playing Parks while Stucky is not 100% is puzzling but not really with Mary-she’s stubborn in that regard with favorite players. Those years of the Monserrez(sic) sisters showed that. She’s a HOF coach and it’s her program. And so it is….

Having attended the game today, I left with the thought Texas is really good. They blocked extremely well. And when they hit for the line, it was always just inside the line, never outside. I left the O'Dome with a lot of respect for their program.

P.S. If you are going to "Pack the O'Dome" and entice a bunch of new fans to show up for the first time by cutting ticket prices to $2 and giving everyone a free t-shirt, maybe pick a game we're gonna win?

While people on this board probably enjoyed this game to see volleyball played at a high level, Joe Average Fan doesn't appreciate any of the intricacies of the game and would have left more likely to come back had they seen a UF win.

That said, UF Marketing did a good job. Second largest crowd un O'Dome volleyball history.

Are you trying to diminish Texas here? You do realize that Texas was 7-3 and ranked 10th this time last season, right? These other teams may have passed them by, but I want to see it in the post season when it counts before I give them credit. Also I'm not sure they are as young as you think they are.
