A buddy of mine told me quite a bit about Vandy; was not surprised they won and almost beat Mizzou the week prior. He said he will not be surprised if Vandy makes the CFP this year. The reason being, the new coach spent the off season bringing in over 50 players from the portal, high-quality players too. Vandy actually has a sizable booster pool of money that is rarely tapped into and with NIL leveling the playing field, if Vandy does well enough, they may use that pool for more NIL money, far surpassing what most normally spend on it. Secondly, the scheme is old school, think inverted wishbone with a real full back blocking. He said almost 100% of defenses today are built to stop the spread - fast, smaller players instead of bigger stronger players. Vandy's offense is catching teams off guard. Completely takes out high-powered offenses like Bama and Tennessee because they chew up so much clock that their offense can't get the ball enough and they never get into rhythm. There was a discussion about this either out on YT or ESPN/SEC network that a team that could go back old school would dominate football. All they need are players willing to buy into the system. Vandy fits the bill because so few are headed to the NFL, that this is their Super Bowl. I doubt a program like Georgia or even Florida would incorporate the old wishbone because so many players are setting themselves up for the NFL and running a wishbone would kill their chances of playing in the NFL.

I was kidding at the time thinking Bama would overtake vandy's early lead.

The only thing I don’t like about Alabama losing this game is it helps Georgia out. I am absolutely thrilled for Vanderbilt winning though. The Commodores dude pimp strut on SEC-Shorts will be epic.

Took him only 4 years to win his 12th game. Franklin did that in a year and a half.

Nothing like college football with the excitement that NFL cannot surpass.

On another note, the NIL is leveling the playing field in college football. Teams like bama no longer has the means to exclusively pay players and stack the roster with 4 and 5 star players. Depth now will be an issue. Upsets like yesterday will be more prevalent imo.

I still can’t believe this happened. Is saban happy they lost so it looks like his coaching was the reason Alabama won?

Saban is the GOAT. There was nowhere to go but down for the bammers. At least they dodged the bullet and didn’t hire the head clown.

One idea I hope to see this week on SEC Shorts. At the end when Herbie gets in a dig at the sign off, he should say "Sorry Bama, Maybe Next Year" while wearing a gold and black leopard print pimp coat.

More bad behavior from Malachi Moore. He actually refuses to come out of the game.
